want to know what you can do with the new geforce 9800gtx? go to www.mission4today.com (http://www.mission4today.com) and download the free template 'the island british base' by blumax, its incredible, over 26000 placed objects, just stunning! and remember while your pc is stuttering and struggling with fraps, it plays like a dream with the 9800gtx. Spoke to blumax he said its just the job and looking at his template i can well believe it! also said Pearl harbour might get the treatment next..... can't wait

9800GTX is just a G92 8800GTS 512 with slightly higher clocks, a total ripoff when the 8800GTS 512 is much cheaper. 8800GTX still beat the 9800GTX.

Yeah, I have read the same thing about it. Not worth the money. What can a 9800 in SLI do that my 8800 GTX running in pairs can't do. Not much apparently.

I would like to see some screenies of that map though.

Just to do everyone a favour...here's the actual link so you don't have to go foraging for it:

Be nice to have some screen shots. People go through all of the effort to do fantastic work and then they skimp on the most important bit to grab peoples attention. Not a single image so far...

I'm running pretty high settings. On the Normandy map i'll avg 85-90 fps or so. Flying low over this gentlemans great work, I was into single digit frames (4fps a couple of times).

Upon closer inspection, the Normandy invasion is at hand. Defenses are on high alert, plans are being finalized, supplies are being loaded, weapons and equipment are being serviced and loaded.

Just like the 7950GX2, the 9800GX2 is meant to be only a single slot SLI solution for those that don't have an SLI mobo. It's not intended to replace a pair of 8800GTS/GTX cards in SLI and should be slower in most all cases than a proper SLI setup. But it should also be faster than any single GPU card.

I had a PC that just died ( TI-4600 video card died ) and I built it in 2001 with a XP2100 processor. It probably would never have even finished loading that map, let alone allow me to fly a plane in it.

I didn't think he was speaking of the 9800GX2, I think he was talking about the single gpu 9800GTX. The GX2 is actually a very nice card, too expensive, but a nice card.
