Hi all...I spent some time today calling around and could not find this anywhere. I still have a question though on the games themselves. I understand "IL2 Sturmovik" is it's own game. As well as "Pacific Fighters and Forgotten Battles". Is "IL2 Sturmovik 1946" all of them combined? I'm trying to figure out still what I am looking forhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I also see some talk about "Storm of War". Not sure what that is.

Buy the 46 dvd from the link posted above and play the second dvd. You'll see what Storm of War is about. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Il2 sturmovik was the first.

there was going to be an update to this but the update grew so large it was released as Forgotten Battles, this is not an upgrade to the original but a stand alone from it........ so IL2 Sturmovik the original was no longer upgradeable past the odd patch it had

An add on disc came out for Forgotten Battles and was AEP.

from that was released another version Pacific Fighters, This had a dual purpose, it was a stand alone game OR an add on for the Forgotten Battles and AEP add on to bring 3 versions together as a merged item.

Again another item was released as a bought download, this was PE2, originally meant for the Russian market it was released into the world as an add on for FB AEP AND PF combined............ another was planned which was the manchuria add on and a yet a final item which was a "what if" the war had gone on into 1946.

This was then issued as thefinal part of the story and called 1946 it includes Forgotten Battles... AEP... Pacific Fighters...PE2...Manchuria...and 1946 on one megga DVD and is patched up to 4.07M allowing for 2 more patches to be added........... in addition it has a bonus CD showing the forthcoming Storm of War Battle of Britain.....

THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT TO BUY........ 1946.

And he does not need 4.071 beta, he can patch 1946 directly to 4.08.

I just ordered 1946 from that link...Now I have to decide if my Cyborg gold usb joystick will work ok, or if I should look more into the X52. They have it at a nearbye store. It's a nice setup!

Your Cyborg is just fine, but the X52 will give you all the functionality you'll need in most online servers as they incorporate CEM (complex engine management).

I'd say get the X52 hands-down if it's an easy option.

1946 is the year in the Gregorian calendar preceding 1947

LOL...I understand the addictivesness. Although new to the Flight Sim community, I have been into online racing sims for about 10 years now taking part in multiple online leagues. This will be a great deal of fun I'm sure!!!

I've had a hard time getting my hands on this one but I think I got lucky last Christmas, sadly not every store in my town sells the 1946

The game will certainly be playable on that machine, with modest graphic settings, i.e. 1024x768 res, good to excellent settings.
