I have played IL 2 sturmovik for a while now and today i wanted to try playing online. After a few houers reading the forums and downloading the wrong patches i finaly found the right one. I only have the Il 2 sturmovik forgotten battles so i downloaded the il2_fb_v1.0_to_v1.22.exe patch. But i cant figure out how to install. The patch is winzip file and when i dubble klick it i can chose unzip or run winzip. And if i chose unzip it unzips the files but nothing happens, and if i chose Run Winzip i get a list of files witch i dont know what to do whit. Pleas help me i have no clue of what to do and i realy want to play this fine game online.

Have you checked by running the game? I ask because the patch merely replaces earlier files by unzipping into your Il2/FB folder i.e. it doesn't run an install program. If you have unzipped into the right place try running the game and look in the bottom left corner of the loading screen. You should see the new version number.

If it's the old version number, make sure you are unzipping the files into your existing Forgotten Battles folder. You might have to browse in the destination box in Winzip but it normally comes up with the default pathname on your C drive.

Good luck with it.

Just a thought, if you're going online you might also wish to get the full set of more recent addons etc as they will give you much more choice in which servers you can join (majority would be PF 4.04m or 4.05m).

Me thinks you are trying to patch the Original with a patch from Forgotten Battles!
That won't work!

Go get the Original's patches, then you might wanna try online play (Though I don't know how many still play that one online!)

Read this: Patch order - entire game series. Make sure you have it right! (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/4721047273?r=4721047273#4721047273)

Thanks for helping out FT, my memory of the early patches is hazy but that would explain the problem.

As for buying more recent stuff, see this:

http://shop.ubi.com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=396&id=97

for probably the easiset way to do it and get right up to date.

IF you have the 2CD Forgotten Battles:

=1= make a system restore point so you can return to your old configuration, alternatively copy the whole /ubi soft/il-2 sturmovik/ forgotten battles/ folder and everything in it to a safe place.
=2= Check if the zip containa an exe - if it does, unxip all files to a temporary folder and then run the exe. point it to the ubi soft/il-2 sturmovik/forgotten battles/ folder where you installed your game - if it does not, unzip all files to the ubi soft/il-2 sturmovik/forgotten battles folder. Overwrite all files in both cases.

run the game and check the version on startup.
follow this guide at airwarfare (http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/patching.htm) to patch the game.
It has a link to FB patch1.22 over1.0 too (It's only 16.1MByte, so a re-download isn't all that big a disaster I guess).
Good Luck!
IF you have the 1CD IL-2 Sturmovik:
follow yhe Patching guide for IL-2 ZSturmovik (http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/patching.htm) and upgrade to 1.2

Yes you can pay with your credit card at Boonty's although I'd look around the local shops first as you can often find FB at discount prices there. (It's also still offered at ebay http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
