Upgrading my computer soon and want to know whether MS force feedback 2 fully works with XP 64 OR Vista. I'd assume XP drivers won't work on Vista, but what about XP 64?

Will I have to keep a separate XP 32 installation just to use the joystick?

Thanks.

The anwer is yes, but only the default key settings, no MS control panel.

IL2 will still recognize the buttons 1-8 in the game control panel section for assigning buton commands.

Some have a daul boot with XP to keep the MS control panel functioning.

XP x64 is a pile of pooh, sorry. Try the RC of windows 7, the release candidate is good for a year before you have to buy retail, and the RC is the Ultimate edition, which will allow you to download the beta of XP mode (assuming your cpu has hardware virtualization) and run il2 and the FFB2 in a virtual full copy of XP...

This sounds like a good plan, is IL2 stable under this scenario, and FFB2 drivers fully functional?

Well, I don't know of anyone who has tested this yet in the new XP Mode but in this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2601013236/m/3111019457) thread it seems il2 plays just fine in plain old win7. I'll be trying il2 in win7 AND in XP Mode but I don't have a FFB2 stick to try out. At the very least you can use a third party program to do control profiles for the FFB2 if you can't get the software to work in XP Mode. The stick itself works fine in vista, it's just the software, so I assume it will work fine in win7.

The FFB2 will woprk fine in XP-64 or Vista.. but the profiling software will not. I suggest for that you see this thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/3281016436?r=3281016436#3281016436). I prefer TGC......... It is less of a resource hog. Pinnacle isd prettier.. and more of a GUI.. but TGC IMO is the better of the two.

Update to my own question.. I've installed Win7 64bit and am now happily running il2 on my upgraded system.

I could not install the original MSFFB2 drivers though, and the default driver that comes with Win7 won't allow me to calibrate stick forces (the 3-way resistance settings the original driver had). Any way you guys know of that will let me calibrate stick forces under 64 bit os?
