In particular Moonlight Ale, brewed by Arkell's in Swindon, UK. It turns out that this was brewed to celebrate the 80th birthday of their managing director, one Peter Arkell. It's called Moonlight because he used to fly Westland Lysanders in and out of nazi-occupied Europe during the war.

Later he was posted to the Far East where he flew Lysanders behind Japanese lines in support of Ghurka, British and Burmese troops. His flying career ended when he crashed into a hillside. Fortunately, a local shaman nursed him back to health and saw him safely to allied lines.

I'm not sure how widely available it is, but if you see some have a pint. Like you needed an excuse /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

It's been scientifically proved that your performance with EVERYTHING improves after 1-2 beers.

U ought to stop there though /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Living the High Life tonight. A sixer of Miller always improves my flight skills, but doesnt help keep me from trying to crap on whiner threads. Maybe I need a few more/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Their advertizing is pretty original too, I seem to recall.

My own homebrewed ale and lager is really coming into its own these days, after half a year of experimenting and learning!

Living in a country where a pint costs the equivalent of 2 pounds sterling in the store, homebrewing is a virtue of necessity. And it's fun!

I agree with Low_Flyer, Spitfires nice. Just don't drink it when its gone off (as I learnt the hard way.)

I did't know Moonlight Ale, but 'm happy to try it the next time that I'm in the U.K.
In the meantime, I'll stick to my Dutch & Belgian beers http://www.network54.com/Realm/panzermodeler/Biertjah.gif

Any more aeroplane related beers out there?

I seem to remember Lancaster from somewhere, though not the Lancaster Brewery. And 'Whirlwind' would be a fine name for a potent British brew.....
