Or at least damage them?

I tried to make this work back in 3.04 but i couldn't do it- sink a small boat with machine gun fire. Couldn't do it in 4.01 either

For laughs, as I was returning to base, I unloaded my remaining ammo into an armed fishing boat

To my surprise, black smoke started coming out of the fishing boat.

I've never seen this, even with unlimited ammo; I ran out of ammo about 3 seconds after I started firing at this armed fishing boat, with 2 heavy and 4 light machine guns:

Has anyone sank a boat with MG fire? Seems possible to sink it if I can damage it

Seems like the perfect situation to say "got track"?

Early PF, strafed. The Sea truck can be smoked. Others have claimed sinking them, but you have to attack in a steep dive, shooting the wtaerline does nothing.

Never, and have frankly thought it undoable. S80's with RS132's, OTOH, a couple of times...

OT? Nah http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

seems pretty unlikely that you would go through that trouble just to stir up things.

danjama must have really needed to say "Got Track" (LOL)...i know the feeling.

I have gone one precisely one fishing trip, and that was spectacularly successful. It included a fake link to fictitious pics of Hermann Goering's macrame helmet cozies and swastika-shaped table doilies. It must have been so weird that people beleived it had to be true

Link was http://www.crochetworld.com Don't bother clicking, it doesn't exist. Folks love the clicky-clicky

I we seen this before in 4.01, whit 0.50 cals on VIII sub, as I was trying to make a il2 movie about battle on Atlantic.
Apparently you have damaged one of its guns (yes the forward ninja operated ones), and that kind of damage is graphically demonstrated by black (in my opinion overmodeled) smoke. The actual ship, its ability to float, remains undamaged.

I see you've never tried to load a bomb onto a Hawk 81A-2. Try it out http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

you know, i'm just gullible enough to believe something like that. Goering was quite a diva/drama queen in RL. his bizzaro excess was legendary.

Did the boat have an AA gun? Destroyed AA guns on ships will smoke.

I tried this myself with a YP-80, and I couldn't damage the boat. With FW-190A9 I was also unable. With Ju-87G1, it sunk with 6 hits.

As Tater stated you can sink the sea-trucks with .30s & .50s (Done it often in a Dauntless & Wildcat)

A Fishing boat will sink under the cannon from a Beaufighter, but not MGs only.
