Has anyone tried a gamer keyboard (i.e. http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/cupro.htm ,or http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=157024 ,or 'Fang' out on both IL-2 family, and 1st per shooters,i.e. Call of Duty 2/3 ?
Or either alone, just as important. If so,how was it?Any info appreciated.
I'm building a machine for games only-(This generation-pre-BOB).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Lyrics from Naked Raygun's "Rat Patrol".
"What we need to take control,we could use the Rat Patrol. What's that coming over the dune?...
Chasing the halftracks across the sandflats, got a nice pine box,for that desert fox, machine guns blaring, and Arabs staring wondering why,the Westerners are there. It's the same old story, and it'll happen again."

Have been using one of these... Link: http://www.pbcentral.com/columns/hildreth_kravitz/eclipse2.shtml

Really like the back light keyboard... don't have to turn on all the lights in the house to use the computer.
Although my wife say's it's not setup as far as the keys and like the Microsoft board that we used before when she's typing.
I should add that my typing skill's are below average... more like a chicken pecking for food! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But over all I'd give it an 8 out of 10 rating.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I bought this one a while ago, but for an old-timer, being used to the keypad-keys for years, it's still a bit difficult to change.
You also need a large desktop, as the keyboard is not the smallest one.

For primitive shooters like CoD, UT and BF2 / 2142, I still prefer the keypad. For games like Rainbow6Vegas or AmericasArmy, the few keys of the keypad are not enough, most of the time. Big plus of the MERC is it's ability to program the additional keys, even with Macros.

I also tried this one:

I found the pressure point was too sluggish, though.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yeah, being a fairly old geezer myself,I'd rather have the Game Control on a smaller seperate board. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

My oldest son (20 yo) has been using one of these: http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/gamerskey.htm for a couple months now and he absolutely loves it. He doesn't do ANY type of sim, but plays every shooter out there along with a few other genres. Personally, I haven't used it yet so can't speak from personal experience, but he swears by it.
