... That Ubisoft is a play on words? I only just noticed it, and it's been staring me in the face for years. I'm not going to give it away just yet, but feel free to reply suggesting the logic behind this rather sneaky "in joke".

2 weeks just took on a whole new layer of meaning. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

depends how you pronounce UBI

american oobee, or YouBe or hell even youBeI

Viper2005_
02-13-2007, 03:25 PM
Nope. Guess again. It's all about the written word.

Yeah. Anyone would get soft after waiting two weeks to get any.

Viper2005_
02-13-2007, 03:34 PM
Well, I guess that's a statement of fact but it fails to demonstrate an understanding of the logic behind the rather sly pun...

It's all about the written word, and relies upon 2 languages. One of them is English. The other isn't French.

dude

2001 called

it wants its pun back

Viper2005_
02-13-2007, 03:44 PM
Methinks that this particular pun relies upon concepts which rather pre-date 2001... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'll spill the beans sometime tomorrow.

Until then, keep on guessing!

UbiSoft

Ubi = Where (in Latin)

in English, 'Where' is homophonous to 'ware'

Ergo, Ubisoft = Waresoft, a pun on 'Software'

The games are sneaky distractions to keep you from guessing the true meaning of the name.

Oleg wears black robes and watches Sponge Bob on a full moon; henceforth the P47's rollrate. He also has a secret handshake that only he and only he knows. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

You should see what they do to sheep at the ubizoo. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Oh yes, there is a hidden meaning behind "ubisoft". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
