Hi all,
I´ve been offline last month so don´t know very much about this new patch. Will it include new planes?

Thanks! ;-)

What we know so far is that there will be a patch released soon and then an add-on right after that.
The patch contains new fm/dm and some new objects and a new map (france) from what I understand but the following add-on will contain new planes.
But nuttin is certain so we will have to wait and see.

<table width="100%" border="0" align="center">

<td colspan="2"><hr></td>
<td rowspan="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1">http://members.chello.se/ven/duck.jpg</font></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td width="43%"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1">Rubber Ducky, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Ducky, you're my very best friend,
it's true!

Rubber Ducky, you're the one,
You make bathtime lots of fun,
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.</font>
</td>
<td width="36%"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1">Every day when I
make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby

Rubber Ducky, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.</font></td>
</tr>
</table>

France? Really?

I read the patch details by Fishdogg, and didn't see anything about this. There is also no precedent for this as new maps were never released in any of the IL2 patches.

If I were given a choice between a patch containing a map of France or new planes, I'd choose the map. (I love new planes and like many, I'm drooling over the prospect of a Zero). Still, I'd rather have new scenery than to add to the already very generous hangar of a/c. I guess that what I love about this series - it just keeps giving and giving through the dedication of its designers and through the skill and input of its community.

France map? Maybe you are refering the Bastogne map... but that´s in Belgium ;-)

No, he's referring to the Caen/Normandy map, last I looked that was still in France.

Does this mean we get an American Campaign finally?

Well, the only campaign that we could do for the P39 would be the Pacific...And a VERY SMALL one in North Africa.

The P40, however could do a fairly large campaign, as could the P47.

Wait for the Mustang......

With a B-17 in the works, a very nice P-47 (albiet seems not quite right yet - the patch I hear fixes some of those concerns), and the P-51 flyable sooner or later, yes we could have a American campaign. I'm more interested in the RAF campaign with Tempests, Typhoons, and Spitfires personally. But that map will do nicely for that as well.

Sorry but unless you have a copy of the final release of the patch then I must disagree. There are two new maps (the ardennes and Normandy) but they are not complete. There are currently TWO addons in the works. The first one is a free addon that will add new planes (certain) and possibly the new maps (I doubt it, but it is possible). The second addon is payware and will probebly include lots of stuff. No details have been given on the second addon other than it is in the works. The patch might include 1 or 2 new planes but it might not. I have the beta 08 patch and it has no new planes but they might be worked on seperatly from the main patch. I really don't know. But I wouldn't get your hopes up on new planes in the patch.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

What Vengeanze wrote is accurate. We KNOW this. How the following add-ons will be organized is still indefinite.

Relax all, like Christmas, it's coming!

*sigh*

That would be dreamy.

Actually, Normandy would be nice to put together some of the current early British and German aircraft over. Wouldn't mind trying to bomb German forces outside during Goodwood.

It will be teh r0xxor.

Personally, I can't see more than two add-ons comming out for FB. Oleg has said that there will be a number of new planes in a free add-on. In that case, I hope the second add-on(paid or un-paid) comes out as far into the year as is possible. Think about it, Gibbage, Luthier and a whole lot of others are doing free planes for the add-on. The longer it takes to come out, the more planes we'll actually see in it. So far Oleg has not instructed Gibbage to stop work, indicating that even if Gibbage's latest works aren't in the free-add-on, they'll be there in the second one.

See? That puzzles me! Everybody speak about add-on. That's fine. But then comes into discussion the fact that the add-on could be paid for. Now , correct me if I'm wrong. Those wonderful guys , Gib , Luthier their are working for free , or at least that is what we are told. Moreover , Gib works on the PBY which was possible due to this community help. Then comes UBI , packs everything in a nice shinny box and charges 29.99 euro/piece. Is that legal?

Why not they did it with FB, how many of the cockpits and aircraft that were included with that were done for free by the 3rd party guys.

Only legal if they agree as it is their work is covered by copyright!

From what I remember of IPR (having been through the High Court in a copyright battle that I won my self) but I am no expert!

Don't forget that "the work done by third party guys" is about 30% of the work that must be done to get a new plane flyable.
