View Full Version : Top 20 ways to know that you are an IL2:1946 UBER Ace

SlickStick

And awaaaaaaay we go....

20. You've been jumped by two bandits who are on comms, right at take-off, and proceed to knock them out of the sky and land within 5 mins time.

19. Your best memories of flying this game are the times you succeeded in clearing your wingman's six right before he was about to get waxed. Especially, when he didn't see the bogey coming. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

18. You will leave a bogey that you have dead in your sights and could easily dispatch within another min or two, to save a wingman or team mate in need. Especially, when they are calling for help.

17. You only need to speak online when spoken to and your skills are only exceeded by your humble respect for the respectful and your total annihilation of the disrespectful.

16. Your keen situational awareness extends to informing your team mates of exactly what to expect at any point in a mission or dogfight and being a true selfless leader.

15. When joining a server, you find a noob or someone having a difficult time and you spend your entire time on the server just covering them and nobody lays a bullet on them.

14. The known warpers come out of the woodwork because they can't win any other way and require loose settings servers to succeed, but you fly as dominantly on a wide open speed check server as you do on the gnat's *** tightest there is.

13. You constanly receive HL pages for recruitment in squadrons.

12. You willingly and gladly share any and all information with anyone who asks, as you know that making better enemies will make you a better pilot.

11. Other Uber aces fear you and when they can't beat you, that's when the usual "Warp, Lag and Roll" begins until they finally leave the server in frustration.

10. When joining a server, you immediately join the side with the least amount of pilots, regardless of color or planeset, and proceed to shoot down the highest scoring pilots on the server.

9. Your name is Megile or you have guns like HaVoK.

8. The only thing that you fear when flying IL2:1946 is the threat of your significant other packing their bags and leaving you. For some of us, fear in this case is optional, as we know it would just allow us more time to fly this sim, if they did leave. You'd just have to make sure they didn't take any of your stuff with them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

7. Your in-game plane and overall game knowledge is so extensive, that you don't even care what planes are in the planeset, as long as something is flyable and there is someone to shoot at.

6. You are just as dominant on an "all difficulty switches left" server as you are on an "all difficulty switches right" server.

5. Squadron members join servers just to spawn and make tracks of your dogfighting for squadron training purposes. Usually in an alias.

4. You join one of the many "Stat-Ho" servers and several regulars immediately leave the server, as they know their Kill/Death ratio was about to take a beating. Of course, they immediately come back in their aliases so their stats won't suffer when they get whupped. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

3. Your skillz are so honed that you can easily detect any and every disturbance in the Force, and can immediately pick out the pilots that are not flying honorably, quite easily.

2. You can immediately assess the skill level of your opponent after the 1st merge of the 1st engagement and then adjust accordingly. Also, you never salute your downed enemy unless he salutes you first, as you know that most use the salute to patronize their victims.

1. Squadrons have to send 3 and 4 at a time to get you because they know that 1 or 2 vs 1 will not work.

Being wrong about the way a track from a third party host shows bomb explosions has absolutely nothing to do with the Force nor it's detection therein.

Besides, as we've always proved, when one's skills diminish on a server set for 1%, 1 sec speed check and 0.5S MAX LAG, the proof reveals itself.

Okay I can so see this thread being locked. First those that accuse others of cheating usually lack the skill to defeat your opponent so therefor they must boost there ego by calling them cheaters. Also VMF-214 flys if a wide array of servers on Hyperlobby and I dont recall once being called a cheater myself or any of my pilots. Any pilot caught cheating is discharged immendiately from this squadron no exceptions. So slippy post tracks or stop the accusations. Most of us are up for a 1v1 any time if u wish and you can even host it, be warned track might be recorded and placed on youtube for everyones enjoyment. S~ and have a nice day.

Did not mention a word about cheating, I stated when the server controls warp, lag and roll of "bad" connections, it makes it better for others to succeed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Makes you think though, how lag is such a funny thing when it is only beneficial for the individual and only happens when they are in trouble. Curious, huh? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Okay I am done its obvious you recently purchased the sim and just started flying, us vetrans been dealing with this for 6 almost 7 years and guess what it will never go away some have highspeed some dont, your whinning wont help the issue, for me it usually just prolongs there death, rarely does it give them a upper hand. In 6 years i have yet to have difinant proof of a cheater or hacker or a track, i have seen a few wierd things but usually its just lag i can not control. Worry about the things you can control like your gunnery and flying skill.

Wow, that long and you've never seen the tracks of speed hack being used? Nor even the one where a guy uses it on his own track and shows you exactly when he hits the hotkey to use it and you watch his plane speed up and slow down accordingly? Methinks you've led a bit of a sheltered online game life. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

My fav are the guys who join the server to see what the Speed Check is set to or get instantly kicked upon joining and then leave to adjust their Speed Gear program accordingly to be able to use the hotkey under the secs and percentage set by the host.

Funny though, if it wasn't real, we wouldn't have the settings in-game to detect it. God bless you, Oleg! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

As I rarely even worry about these things nowadays, it is irrelevant to me what one pilot needs to do to succeed. All that matters is what I do and that my honor is intact. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Nope, wrong again. Everybody who shoots me down is not a cheater. On the rare occassions where I lose a 1 vs 1 battle that's clean, they get a hearty salute.

When a low ping pilot can only win by warping, lagging, stuttering, and such, I just laugh nowadays. I used to care, but nowadays I am just satisfied with my sense of self-satisfaction on a job honorably done, win or lose.

As for Misha, at least get the story straight. I was waxing one of his/her m8s and he/she got an engaged kill on me. As soon as we met 1 vs 1 in the air two planes later, the result was easily as expected. He/she limping off to try and crash-land his/her wrecked plane. But, thanks for reminding me of that day, what two years ago?? That was fun.

Ask your m8s about the whuppings I've laid on them everytime they joined the RCAF_FB server. LOL, typing to them with one hand, while pwning them with the other. Too funny! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Yawn, as you and your guys fly pit-off as much as pit-on, that part of the equation is irrelevant, as it means nothing when externals are still enabled. So, please save your typing trying to defend your weak squadron m8s.

RCAF server was but an example where many of the 214th fly or flew in the past.

LOL, pit-on. You say that like it makes a bit of difference with externals still enabled. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well, if that is true a lot of things suddenly are confirmed for me....In an old post I mentioned how a particular squadron could climb a plane from 0-4km in the time it took me to get to 1km...In kind fly circles around my plane and zip away like I was at 10% throttle.

The one thing I mentioned that I noted was how they would join, then exit and return....Restart the game (due to some botch at the start) and they'd ALWAYs exit then come back...

Now having seen their acrobatics, I knew they were hacked, yet always assumed the leaving and returning was to get the hack to run as that's what it took when people used it in RB3d.

SO if the above is true..........Firms my thoughts on this squadron and many others I simply made a point to watch. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Here's a little story for ya, LEB. One of the squadrons out there has a known and proven speed hacker that I was well aware of. One of his m8s started a dedicated server with default speed check. The 43mS ping, high-end system, speed hacker joined and warped all over town. After he had left, I spoke with the host and got him to change the speed check to 5 secs, 5%.

Lo and behold, here comes Mr. Speed Hacker back and gets immediately dropped upon joining 3 times in a row. A few mnutes go by and he re-joins and stays connected, but funnily enough, his plane is now rock-solid and he's getting whupped badly. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The program that is used for this can be run all the time. Either constantly at a certain speed or tied to a hotkey for instant use to stay below server settings and avoid detection.

The worst offenders are the Hosts who purposely set their Speed Check to astronomical values like 50% or higher allowed. This just cracks me up when I join one of those servers, as game speed has nothing to do with lag or connection. So, their excuses for doing it are pure BS. It is a measurement of the in-game program clock, host versus clients.

The truly "artful" speed hackers set it to slow down. This is very effective in causing a bogey to overshoot them, providing an easy kill. Now, we all know there are many ways to slow down quickly in this game and some use overshoot as a great tactic. In the not-so-honorable cases, it's like they have ventilated disc air brakes. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

YOu guys have just confirmed something I also thought about a certain squadron too.

They flew as a certain squadron, then had an 'offshoot' of that squad that was invites only and looked very anonymous and sinistar.
They always flew Bf109's in this 'offshoot' and could climb at ridiculous rates and their plane at a constant 45 degree angle right after take off.

I asked how they could do this at the time, and someone said 'prop pitch' and I thought no more about it. (i never use prop pitch)

If the 'speedhack' thing is true then maybe I wasnt imagining this after all.

Xio, if speed hack was not true, Hosts would not have the means in the conf.ini to detect it on their server. The problem is, many hosts are not aware of the settings or how to use them as they are no longer in the manual or ReadMe and the lines are not installed by default anymore, but have to be manually added. I've emailed 1C about this, but no response.

Speed Hack has been used online long before this game and as far back as the original IL-2 in this series. Be sure. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well I don't use manual prop pitch on 109s/190s, simply too risky to over rev if in a panic you shift to manual without presetting PP before you do.....However, I use it extensively on other planes....Unfortunately overheat & over rev seems to be detuned now...Worse still the higher your PP the more speed you get at the same throttle which should not be entirely true...

Yet I can tell you that PP use will not allow you to climb like some seem able http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

LOL, championships. Yeah, if that's what you call them. Warpfests against a few of the mediocre squadrons on HL. Puhleeeeeeease. I can't believe that you even typed that with a straight face. Oh yeah, weren't those pit-off competitions, too?!?! LMAO! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I haven't used another name in probably 6 months or more and in the past only used them for fun and sneaking up on would-be "Aces". I've always freely admitted who I was, as I have zero to hide. A new name just allows me a little more "me time" before they realize who I am and start sending 3, 4 and 5 at a time at me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The funny thing about any name I've used, I'm exactly the same person, with the same set of standards, as I am as SlickStick. My screen names have been well-documented over the years, mostly by me. Please come again.

As there is no doubt the 214th will be gunning for me to soothe their damaged egos, now that you have decided to bring it into the public eye, I look forward to the challenge, as it will only make me a better pilot. And you guys are already so pissed, you'll be flying angry....never a good move for success. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

LOL! Sure thing. Yes, it must be my system where I average 80+FPS, have awesome cable and a PC that is soley optimized to play this game and this game only. Many people see it with certain folks everyday, they just don't know what they are seeing or how it is being done. I do.

There are only select people that I see, not all. They are easily picked out of a server and some are known "Aces" of many years experience. How they got there is a different story. As I've stated, they always have super low ping, super high-end computer, technically savvy and yet they warp, lag, stutter worse than dial-up and interestingly enough, only when they are on the defense or in trouble. When on offense, the same have zero connect issues. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thanks for your comments though, but they have no relevance in this thread.

Too true your the greatest uber ace around got the highest end pc best cable anywhere, no way you can ever be defeated, i thought i had a decent rig myself setup for only il2 and good cable.

I mean my ch fighter stick and throttle and pedals and track ir might be lagging down my pc and connection so now all i see is lag in game specially when i fire.

Sorry, Sweetie. It was dinnertime. You can stalk me later. Funny how my ping was just fine before you and your mates joined and Corona got autokicked, huh?

Interesting how my connection was being bombarded as well. I'll track that down later.

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/9090/grab0000nk6.jpg

My ping was awesome before you arrived and after I stopped the constant pinging hitting my connection.

Thanks again. P.S. when you have to load up a side and bring a couple of your mates, I've already won. Toxic going red at the end was irrelevant as he would have been intentionally useless, but that's how you 214th roll I guess.

Please move along now and let the Uber Aces use this helpful guide. Thanks. Now, I must be off, my dinner is getting cold.

Don't worry, n_d. You'll get over it. Settings are irrelevant to Uber Aces and each server has it's own unique purpose. I enjoy all settings myself, but I'm glad you only prefer "all settings left". That is what is so great about this game. Something for everybody.

Not to worry, Pablo. Not all do it to be patronizing. Good luck on that speedy next kill. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I feel that if an Uber Ace downs a victim, saluting them everytime becomes redundant and could be construed by the victim as patronizing was my only point.

Indeed, on some servers that is my view. On others, there will be a pit. Ya see, in my experience, there are those who can handle Air Quake™ and those who can't. I enjoy a good Air Quake™ game as much as I enjoy a good "all switches left server".

Two different types of excitement and those that have the ability to be just as dominant in both scenarios know how to get the most fun out of this game. The ratio of Air Quake™ pilots that can easily fly "all switches left" successfully versus those "all switches left" pilots that cannot fly Air Quake™ is staggering. Yeah, yeah, I know. They don't want to. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

It's OK, the "all switches left" crew doesn't have to be afraid of their shortcomings. It's usually why they became "all switches left" in the first place. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

not in my experiance.

when im sluming in a arcade server i find its like shooting fish in a barrel, even though i keep my cockpit on and i never use externals.
the majority (not all of course), of arcade players dont seem to know anything but tnb and their e managment is nonexistant, so i just bnz em to death. hell most get so target fixtated they never check 6.

i find it much more dangerous on a full or near full real server. on those servers i actually have to look up even when im flying above 3km.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Mine has been just the opposite. As soon as you get an "all switches left" pilot in a dogfight, I find they go down as easy as you B and Z Air Quake™ pilots.

Air Quake™ teaches the limits of each plane and the smart pilots take that knowledge into other servers. A smart pilot will always be overall successful, no matter what the settings, server or enemies. The smart pilots use what is given them to its fullest advantage and minimize it's weaknesses.

All switches left™ just takes longer to find the opponents, but I find the fight to be relatively the same, yet actually allows one to more easily escape, if they make a mistake. You make a mistake in Air Quake™ and you are usually dead. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I enjoy the thrill of seeing everything my enemy is doing and him seeing me, yet still beating their best moves to victory. And yes, sometimes the bear gets me, but I can live with that after a good fight, too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

your trouble is you see everything in terms of a dogfight, i don't.

ive already learned the limits of my plane so i dont see the need to constantly risk dogfights, not when i can kill the enemy much more safely by bnz. heck i dont even need the crutches like ww view or externals even though i know my enemies are using them.

bnz is much safer on a arcade server than a full real server. because as i said, most dont fly hi and they get target fixtated when theyre in a dogfight.

You still haven't learned your lesson yet?!?! See, there are three things I don't care about in this life.

1. Anything you think.

2. Anything a cheater says to deny the facts, especially when publically challenged to step-up onto a server set to detect their cheating and prove their honor, and they run and hide like little girls. Anyone with honor has nothing to fear.

3. Anything some Internet Folk™ think about the way I play a game.

I don't need the internet to make friends, that's what my RL is for. Nor do I need to live vicariously through it. I live and play by a certain set of principles and for me my honor is the most important aspect of my online personna.

You can call them anything you like. You describe the same boobs who get shot down by the best of the Air Quake™ crowd just as easy.

That's what's great about this game, something for everybody. You may be able to spank noobs in Air Quake™, I do not doubt that, and you prefer All Switches Left™. I just find it amazing a kid that calls people cheaters left and right and I have already met many people that have told me this can make a thread talking about uber ace. Your a hypocrit and its well known, You call anyone a cheater that bests you. I have been downed by many a good pilot, and for a fact never by you. I dont tuck my tail and run from a fight or leave the server, You say challenge, I am up for it anytime and you can even host and pick my aircraft!!!!!!!!!!

I made no such claim nor intent thereof. It was but a general statement about cheaters and how they run and hide when they will be exposed. If that shoe fits you, wear it as you see fit.

Anyone who downs me is not a cheater, but when the obvious signs are there, I see fit to publically challenge their honor. And then I give them full opportunity to prove me wrong publically as well. Funny, how the true cheats always decline the challenge when they know a track will be made and either show them getting whupped because they have lost their "skills" or getting autokicked when they still try the usual shenanigans. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

My previous error in how a bomb explosion works with third-party host is irrelevant to this situation. That's the good thing about me. If I am wrong, I will most assuredly admit it. I have nothing to hide nor fear.

This thread has nothing to do with me. I've stated that several times. I'm just very astute and quite observant and I felt the need to honor the Uber Aces™.

Rest assured, the only track that will ever be needed will be a 1 vs 1 match. Your paranoia and fear are already starting to show. slick, u have accused many ppl of cheating, often using caps in server chat to do so.
very many people.
can you understand that ost of those people have never cheated online if thier lives, so may become rather upset with you?

the fact that the "bomb-cheat" was for years, an arrow in your proof in the crusade vs cheating, irrefeutable, unequivically so, despite the years of ppl advising you otherwise, which you would dismiss out of hand (your conviction is admirable, if misplaced in this case)....any semblance of reasonable discourse over the matter is lost before it has started, the 17-pager SHOULD have been over by page 6 or 7, but for less the mud, and far more your obstinance in accepting any but yoru own idea......had you been open to all possibilites, you would have seen the light, all the sooner

oone would imagine from this experience, slick, that you might have more of an open mind in approach to the way you have been viewing things, and that perhaps by co-operating with others, sharing ideas; not being abrasive, obnoxious, craven and paranoid. you may learn new things, teach new things, and help toward identifying true cheaters and countering cheat methods....maybe make some friends, too, just like when you were but a lad...then you can apply what you learn to real life, and make frinds there too, aint that grand?

but you havent seemed to learn from this, to me you look even more foolish, i know some and suspect many feel the same....all the other insidious foul cheats you know are irrefeutable and unequivicle that haunt you are non-negotiable, it will take another "Megile-ing" to show you the truth

its not that you are wrong about everything slick, you just have to accept that you are not right about everything....no-one is, which is exactly why you must be willing to accept that you if stop being such a d i c k to others, we can cover each others mistakes, and make success more successful (and hopefully minimize compound mistakes!) in whatever endeavor

btw, anytime you ever want a 1v1 with me slick, your server, anti cheat settings, whatever makes you feel safe dude...you know im in HL alla time, no to find me

Looking forward to the show,

I have never not followed through on a challenge and have spent many nights sitting in HL in a host spot with many of the Ego Boys™ present, waitng for one of them to man-up. Funny, how many of them talk, but when it comes time for the show, they are as quiet as a mouse.

Not to fret, Freelancer, there will be a show. Folks 'round here think I am worried about losing. As long as the server is just and the fight clean, I'll salute anyone who beats me and let my defeated enemies leave with their dignity. All part of the show. As I'm waaaay too smart to be sucker punched, anyone who can man-up and face me on equal terms, will get exactly what they are seeking. Yanking around Scrub Squads™ and Scrub Pilots™ like you, is half of the fun. I love when they have to send 3, 4 and 5 at me. It shows their respect and fear. C'est la vie. I made my mistakes, I manned-up to them and made my apologies. You'll need to let it go now, Daii. You are but a poor scrub who has always been beaten by me since Jane's WWII fighters, going on what, 7 years now? I understand your bitterness. When you mature and step away from the internet someday, you may just start to finally realize your failed expectations and how much time you wasted being bitter and never executing your many chances in life.

As I've stated before, when I publically challenge the honor of an honorless pilot, I offer them full opportunity to rebuke my statements and publically prove me wrong. Funny how they never take that opportunity. Honorable pilots would jump at the chance to prove their honor or receive help in fixing their possible PC issues with this game.

Daii, you need to let it go, bro. You've never beaten me, never will, and I know that hurts your ego. I am sorry for that. I, however, will forever continue to approach my honor with the exact same fervor that I always have. I do not care who likes it, believes it, or runs from it. I also do not care what anyone, especially those of your ilk, thinks about it.

As I did in Jane's, I shall forever continue to root out the cheaters and make sure that they are publically admonished for their pathetic actions.

Let it go. You are just starting to look as pathetic as Pappy by continuing to attempt to outwit someone you are not witty enough to even be in the same thread as. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

You better be careful with that.
I for one wouldn't touch his "cheat free server " with a long pole.
Think about it. He is the host, there are only two players in the game you and him (the server).
Let's say you shot him down two times and he is afraid already.
Knowing how hard he tries to show that all that shot him down are cheaters, I wouldn't be surprised if he would do it and show it as your cheat.
Think about it. He said in repeted posts that he knows exactly how that speed hack works and is really experienced with it. To spot cheaters, he said ..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
If you are the only "client" on his server and he uses that thing, the server, will take his processor speed as the right one even if it's been tempered with. It will check your speed vs his, not vs what it should be.If yours is not changed and his is, the server will say you are cheating, because his computer speed is the speed of the server.
To be safe if you want a 1 on 1 with him, do it on a third party server with at least one more person in the server, all recording tracks.
You can put his server settings on any computer you know, it doesn't have to be his.

But then...why would you want to spend your playing time around this kind of people? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Your reasons for not flying are obvious, Jaws. Just like when you ran from the 4thFG server a month or so back when I joined. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Thankfully, 4thFG is one of the tighter servers on HL.

However, you know absolutely nothing of what you speak. The speed check has absolutely nothing to do with CPU speed and is unchangeable during the game, the same as MAX LAG is unchangeable during the game. Speed check measures the game speed and detects speed hack via your Speed Gear program. Wow, I thought you were clueless before, but now I'm convinced. Spout your mis-informed, ignorant BS elsewhere please. Thanks.

That said, I do not need to host. As long as a host is smart, the server settings correct and the connection fast, it matters not where it is held. It can be anyone that both agrees as neutral.

You should do some reading, bro, you are as mis-informed about this game as Daii is about what is important in life.

You know so much about it, is that why when i joined you in RCAF FB before you left when i got on your 6 your ping went from 57ms to 400ms to 500ms back down to 50ms and all over the place.

For someone who knows so much about it, maybe your the one that is cheating and you suck so bad that cheating dont even help you be succesful and than you get angry and call people cheaters.

There is atleast a dozen ppl on HL that have messaged me this guy is a whinner, all he does is call people cheaters, he runs his mouth and than leaves server.

Your making a great case for yourself.

I did not think there was cowards in online community, but for a fact I have used the same hyperlobby callsign since I joined HL some 5 or 6 years ago and dont hide behind 20 callsigns like you do. Alot of the old timers know me and my squad and noone except you has call anyone or me in my squad a cheater since we moved from UBI to HL. UBI everyone seemed to think everyone cheating cuz game was new and they where and us noobs.

To the point your a online coward.

You need to look no further than your own squad for an example of my prowess. I've whupped them all but you, and I haven't flown against HaVoK in quite some time, probably years.

As you came into my thread crying and moaning about your useless, petty ego, hopefully, you will finally learn your lesson and realize when you've been pwned by my superior wit.

Your points are pure conjecture and BS and your child-like ego reeks in every post. Sorry that you are not an Uber Ace™, but I reserve that title for those that I respect.

I have to agreee with Jaws comment here.

This thread does certainly NOT represent my experience online with IL2. All this 'My d*cks bigger than your d*ck' is just not the IL2 online experience I know.

I htink I can speak for Jaws when I say that His and my experience is like the majority of online players here (Icefire, Hyperion, WhirlinMerlin, Havok, Zorin, JTD, Irish, Forktaileddevil, Firelok, the whole Ukded crowd, and many more I have forgotten) where the experience is not about trying to kick the other guy down and prove your d*ck is the biggest.

Its about getting a bomber formation togther withfighter cover and attempting a run on the targets.

Its about saving your teamate in a dangerous situation.

Its about ALWAYS joining the team with less players.

Its about taking a fleet of Stukas to the target and trying to win the map for your team.

Its about seeing a teamamte in a good position behind an enemy and covering him from above, not barging in like an idiot.

Its about changing teams to try and help the losing team turn things around.

Its about covering each other with more regard for the safety of your teamate than your 'stats'.

Its about flying Hurricanes as a team versus superior Me109F4's and winning out.

Its about flying Me109G6's as a team versus superior Spitfire IX's and winning out.

Its about knowing that the guys you fly with dont care about their 'stats' enough to even THINK about cheating.

Its about letting a novice finish your damaged enemy to give him some experience.

its baout knowing the other guys dont care about beating you that much that they would want to cheat.

Its about enjoying flying with your freinds.

Please, guys hwo are thinking about getting online, dont take this thread as a representation of IL2 online - the servers I play on have none of this testosterone fuelled 'mines bigger than yours' cr*p. Flying online is mostly fun and freindly, not a competition.

Obviously there are some boys who like to show off, but most are Men.

It's more than 20 and some haven't been used in years. Again, as you neglect to read even the simplest of statements, I already related the true story about Misha and any day can prove it again. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I've been SlickStick for 7 years now and always will be. The other names are for fun, being able to fly on a server without loser squads like the 214th suspecting a thing, and for especially getting some extra whacks in on Daii. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I'm always the same person, freely admit when asked and enjoy the peace and tranquility of not having to hear the jealous crybabies whom I've had the displeasure of having to put in their place. Thanks for sharing that for the noobs. Considering that all UK DED servers are the most anal and controlling bunch online, I'll take it as a compliment. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I simply started a thread to repsect those that, through their honor and commitment to their m8s, rise above the others in this game. Thats funny, my opinion is the absolute opposite of everything you said. Its just about understanding the 'ettiquitte' of the server. The rules are on any server in the hope of creating a good game for all who want it, and to get rid of troublemakers, or people who just dont 'get it'.

Ukded1 can be a bit 'mad' and have its fair share of noobs, with its 'cockpit off' setting, but I find UKded2 and UKded3 have mainly more experienced pilots who are up for a seriously good flying session.

The admins on UKded2 are purely for the fun of everyone on the server, they are fair to all, but will kick anyone who doesnt fly with honour, or is intent on annoying people. They will help newbies and will give tips and help to anyone who asks. They helped me no end when I was a noob a few years ago.

I mentioned them because I have had great times on that server with all the friendly regulars. There are also no end of other great admins. I used to love flying on WInds Of War, and those admions are good too.

I think I will stick with the 'newbs' as you put it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The times I've flown there, the admins are so controlling, they actually suck the fun right out of the game, instead of letting it develop naturally. However, that's what is great about this game and HL servers. Everybody has their own fun and enjoys the servers they like best. Imagine what kind of place HL would be if there were only one server to fly on. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Given that, there is running a good server by being on top of the troublemakers and then there is running a server so controllingly that it makes you think you are at church. Much like a good forum, mods and admin need to know when to intervene and when to sit back and let people be people. Granted, it can be a fine line and they should run their server any way they see fit.

I have a nifty little program that was made by a guy back in Jane's WWII Fighters. It shows attacks on my firewall, what type they are, and what IP they are coming from. Pretty standard network stuff. Many, many bots out there probing for unsecure computers as well.

As my ping and connection are always rock solid, with recent downloads at 1.6 to 1.9MB/sec, it stands out like a sore thumb when all of a sudden my connect is pinging like crazy right after specific people join a game. Coincedence? OK, but as the logs revealed they were coming all from one IP.

Any firewall program will tell you that. Do you look at the logs on a normal basis? Every PC I've ever seen with a firewall installed on it shows numerous log entries each minute. Not all of these entries are hackers who are out there looking to infiltrate your network.

I just looked at the log from this computer, from yesterday. It is a page and a half long. Including lots of traffic from the same IP. I guarantee you no one was trying to initiate some kind of denial of service attack on this PC, though. I think you are being a little bit paranoid.

The logs, even from my ZoneAlarm, are not as detailed as this program produces. Of course, there are daily hits against the firewall, but they usually come randomly and very infrequently are they from the same IP.

When they come in rapid-fire succession from one IP, those are the ones that you need to look out for. My program makes great detailed files that I regularly send to my ISP.

Again, the more you know, the more you will grow. Keep learning. You've already gone from "How is that possible?" to "Oh, that is possible." in only two short pages of a thread. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I wouldn't use it if I were you. It tends to kill your connection when you play IL-2. It picks a random player joining the server you play on. It then starts some silly traffic. You'll notice as your ping increases considerably.

For people not believing check your network traffic and be surprised what traffic is there even when nothing is done

(I wouldn't guarantee that a free M$ product shows all M$ traffic)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyi...d7aac&displaylang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=18b1d59d-f4d8-4213-8d17-2f6dde7d7aac&displaylang=en)
(network knowledge needed)

Of course IP isn't IP and can easily be a high traffic Server bounce of to cover another ip .

On the other hand listing IP and Ports of other clients from client side doesn't work anymore from il2 since some versions. So we have either a client with server console access or someone who has too much time on his hands and debugged the packet dest or gets the ip from another service the client is connected maybe gamespy or hl or ase etc.

Anyone has a recording of the network traffic describing this event mentioned above ?

Don't encourage him. We have none of the above. What we actually have here is what appears to be the demented ramblings of a borderline paranoid-schizophrenic.

Yawn, actually what we have here is a MrMojok who knows nothing about what he speaks. I've proven every one of my points. What is hilarious is what your agenda truly is in this matter, lol. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hero on socks.

How to Be Arrogant
Arrogance is said to be virtue. Here's how you can learn what arrogance is and how to benefit from its use.

The purpose of arrogance is to let those whom you do not really value anyway know that you are better than them at a certain activity or in character.

The overall benefit to using arrogance is being treated as a superior person. In order to have that red carpet treatment, you must truly accept and adhere to strict arrogance protocol.

A. It is not a cheat reveler program. This game does that all by itself via it's own built-in tools. I can't wait for V4.09 to slam the door again though. Sadly, the hack has been around for years and only now is full-blown public.

B. It has nothing to do with the game itself, only internet connections and logging of probes, hack attempts and firewall blocks with detailed information and statistics.

C. Feel free to keep reading what you want and typing the opposite, as it is your ignorance that blinds you.

The best use of the program was being able to see who was connected to you when you hosted a game of Jane's WWII Fighters game online. Exact IPs, instant look-ups later through Whois and a variety of IP address information sites built right into the program. It was awesome back then, but doesn't do the same game host/client identification part for IL-2. Only the internet part still works, as this game uses a different protocol than Jane's.

As the program is years old, I have not had contact with the gent in some time. More than happy to let you know if I get in contact with him though.

You state a bunch of vague facts yet dont show the bread and butter. Yes there may be a speedhack or 2 out there i dont doubt that, but for someone to say he knows so much about it well thats just scary. Temptation is a evil thing, why i dont care to research it. Keep talking like a internet tech and we all might start to believe you.

Still no proofs shown neither packet log nor track file nor results from this simple package filter program nor clients that were involved or affected that is mentioned.

I mean it is perfectly possible to build such program in 1 or 2 hours that does what Slickstick described earlier . Assuming you run a shell script on a remote high bandwidth system with enough cpu power you can not only limit clients internet connection but reduce his connection state if routers and servers on the way let you of course. But the number of users that have access to such systems and have the knowledge to implement it is most likely beyond this forum. Maybe when you put a cluster of clients on the same task it would work as well using different internet connection. Normal users don't have that and mostly cheater surely do not have that cause a typical cheater does not want to invest too much time he/she just installs the hack on a regular client pc with no extras.

So my main concern is can il2 handle this alone with its own filter protocol or is there additional help needed firewall , packet filter etc.
(Only hypothetical when such program exists)

Skin upload and other events can as well look like that.

Interesting enough not so much people claimed the problem .When there would be a general tendency to use such "hack" to kick people out or make connection troubles the relevant forums would show a indication of that.
Therefore it is too silent here to see that something of that kind happens.
It is highly unlikely that someone would write/use a program specially for 1 User but maybe the User is really nice and worth to invest the time.

So when there are more users that can either point out a server where this happens that is not on the other side of the globe or can provide detailed information how it happens and are sure there is no windows update etc running in the background backed up with network protocol should post here.

Perhaps you could give us the actual name of this program. Then I could google and see if it has been made available at any point over the years since it was coded.

I doubt you were the only recipient of this program and since you haven't had contact with the author in some time, you don't know if he has released it for the general public.

It is a simple log parsing program with dynamic connection status. Back in Jane's, which used TCP/IP, you could see exactly who was connected to your host. This game uses UDP, IIRC, and I don't know if the author upgraded the program since it's inception. In it's idle state it merely logs. It does not do any traces until you click on the IPs later, so it uses very minor resources in idle state.

It does not have a name persay, but this guy also developed an awesome program to read IPs of all clients in the HyperLobby at a given time. It worked great to see those that were connected to the lobby with one IP, but magically appeared in your game with another IP after launch, usually a dial-up versus their lobby cable. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

They did this to avoid the files detection that HL did for the FM data in Jane's WWII Fighters. This was just one of the many tools that I helped this gent develop to help us prove every cheat that was being done in that game, including changing of the ww2.sqs file where all the FM/DM data was held.

Jiri eventually changed the encryption of the client data within the lobby, as some tried to sell the program used to read it, but that was decrypted with a later version of the program that did not go public.

There was only a small core of people who were privaleged enough to receive these programs. As I helped in their creation, I happened to be one of them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Here is a screenshot of the program that you are referring to:

That program you're showing is taking the Zonealarm log file, and spitting it out onto a GUI with provocative column headers like ATTACK and ATTACKER IP ADDRESS.

Thats one of the reasons I asked if he uses Bitorrent, MrMojok.

I have been called in (I am a computer tevhnician who fixes computers) before from people who think they have been under attack from hackers, only to find they have been using bitorrent or some file sharing program, and turned it off. This resulted in a massive log of so called 'ATTACKS'.

If you use Bitorrent and then switch it off, peoples computers are still trying to connect to your computer, but cannot make a connection as your bitorrent client is no longer running. Therefore your firewall logs every attempt at a connection as an 'ATTACK'.

This results in hundreds of so called 'attacks' whcih can last for days on end as computers keep trying to connect and getting bounced back by your firewall.

It does NOT mean that you are under attack by people trying to ruin your ping. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Many other programs can have this effect too, not just bitorrent. Limewire, Bearshare, Napster, in fact any program which makes connections to other computers. Once you close the program, the attempts from peers trying to connect to you are listed as 'ATTACKS'.

Slicksticks 'ATTACKS' seem more like paranioa mixed with wrongly ID'd traffic to me.

MrMojok
10-17-2007, 06:28 PM
yeah, also computers infected with viruses will scan like that, to find somewhere else to spread to, also some internet service providers will scan IPs all day to see how many nodes are on certain ranges, etc, etc, etc.

But I am now convinced, as a result of his screenshot, that it's not paranoia at all. Slickstick knows what you are talking about, too. I now believe Slick's use of this is a deliberate attempt to mislead and deceive people. He is using this as "evidence" or "ammunition" in his crusade to prove how everyone is out to get him, knowing full well the zonealarm log file doesn't at all mean people are trying to destroy his ping in Hyperlobby.

He knows this because his zonealarm logs show the same type of "attacks" whether he is connected to HL or not. And he has known it for years.

I have also never seen a pilot in HL that was so good that his opponents had no chance against him and so had to resort to this type of shenanigan to bring him down. Every single one of you who connects to HL can, and does, get shot down from time to time. Some of you less than others, but no one is invulnerable.

Aside from Hayateace or Snark, perhaps.

That program you're showing is taking the Zonealarm log file, and spitting it out onto a GUI with provocative column headers like ATTACK and ATTACKER IP ADDRESS.

They are but occurrences and the program also offers offer real-time connection information. I never stated that it did anything more. It is a convevnient GUI with extra features than just a text log. It shows patterns and repeat IPs that probe my firewall. Exactly what is was designed to do. I had nothing to do with the headers or the naming thereof.

I do not claim it does anything more than it does, and did not previously. The day in question was a rapid-fire attack of multiple hits per second. End of story. I do not need it for anything else but validation of a bad connect instance.

BTW, I do not use Bit Torrent, Xio.

The day I worry about an honest pilot beating me will be the day I throw my flight stick in the garbage. I've always promoted competitions and love to fly in them. I just like to help keep them honest. I helped make Jane's quite secure. Jiri would not implement the one fix to make HL secure and that was not allowing two ww2.sqs files in the folder at one time. One would be valid, one would be hacked and could easily be switched. That's why a secure lobby was developed, but once the cheats couldn't cheat, they wouldn't fly there. It was proven back then and is for FYI only, as it is a dead game now.

Just for information, adding skins also modded the ww2.sqs file, so Jiri felt that he would be limiting people from using skins and other sound/visual mods. The truly sad part is that by allowing a modded file, just like in this game, you lose total control over what gets modded.

Hopefully, the next generation of this game's anti-cheat tools will include logging of MAX LAG and Speed Check results of exactly what a client is doing, as well as a more complete files.sfs check. I can only hope.

Sadly, mojok, your agenda has personal motives.

Funny, that you are one of the constant type to state there are no cheats. Yet, we have several tools to prevent them added in by Oleg to stop the cheating that was happening. How interesting.

Tis' a pity many hosts intentionally do not use them or actually increase Speed Check over 20% LMFAO, others are ignorant of them, and the ones that do use them well I salute.

Xio, when you don't know what you are talking about, you really shouldn't speculate. It makes you look ignorant. Just FYI.

You are a liar. I have never once said there were no cheats. You'd have to be blind in the last month or so to think that. In fact, I have been one of the ones who has raged against the new modding. But then again, you already know that. You are now trying to twist around my calling you on your BS about your ping, to infer that I am one of the people flying on HL using the sound mod, or something. That's typical of you, from what I see in this thread.

What I AM saying is that I do not believe for one moment anyone has ever tried to destroy your ping on HL.

As for my agenda being personal, I don't recall ever having seen you online, and nothing about your posts ever stood out to me before, except your no-cockpit screenshots. This thread started out fine initially, it was a very funny list.

Given that we have both now expressed how we truly feel about one another, before we both get banned, I suggest you ignore my posts, or let the forum software do it for you. I'll do the same, I won't post in any more of your threads, or have any communication with you at all. On these boards, on any other boards, or online.

I disagree and have shown that I have the means to detect when something is happening to my connect over the interenet. I could care less what you think about my screens, how I fly or what I know. There are as many reasons for the probes as there are honest reasons that set off the anti-cheat tools. I agree with that. It shows interesting patterns and that is my main concern.

I stated what the program did and then showed what it did. You can downplay it all you wish.

Your agenda stems from your alliances, nothing more. As in the past, I will do what I need to do, you do what you need to do.

I don't have any alliances here, or anywhere else that has anything to do with this game.

We have agreed to disagree. Let's just leave it at that.

We (I gather Mojok too) are not talking about cheats in General, we are talking about your thoughts that people are intentionally trying to 'attack' your ISP to make your ping fluctuate.

The program you show listing 'attacks' shows nothing to indicate that is happening.

Uhm it isn't a packetfilter itself but uses zonealarm / blackice log , so everything it does is reading a log file from and displaying the data. That is what every firewall and packetfilter can do nothing special. It just shows that your pc like many others receives packets from outside that are not allowed to pass your firewall settings. Either you requested this packets or not . There can be traffic that no one wants that is not blocked by the router or server firewall but that is a setting problem.

A real "attack" would look much different

A typical IL2 connection includes some ports and udp data channels exchange. Not to forget skins upload / download etc.

X do you have time next week when i am back home to analyse such regular data traffic on UKD compared to private small playercount session. That we can estimate what traffic and bandwidth belongs to il2 and what not. So we can definitly say what traffic and connections can belong to il2 and when we can speak of a real attack(maybe even try that out).
