View Full Version : Help Please to find old il2 Battle of Britain Campaign.

Hi all,

This was a campaign I never finished. Made by Polymando or similar as I remember if correctly http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

It had this haunting music between missions with Churchill's speeches overlaid.

The Battle was a tough call for a restrained il2 Mk 1 Hurricane as I recall.

And flying from England to Jersey in ten-tenths cloud on instruments for about 15 minutes was a worth while but heavy challenge.

Hoping to get il2 installed again after a two year OS break.

Best Regards

Was it "BoB Hurricane season"?
I have it on my hard drive.

The campaign is called 'Battle Over Britain'. By Extreme_One (perhaps with Poymando, I can't remember). I have it and still occasionally give it a spin. An excellent campaign. The music and choice of Churchill speech quotes was the icing on the cake. I'm willing to bet it's up at Mission for Today. I'll have a quick look for it now.

Even updated for compatability with IL2 1946!

Many thanks RedToo http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

As soon as I've married il2 46 to Mr. Windows 7 64, this campaign will be launched.

...we will defend our island...

And to further quote Mr.Churchill:

<Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.

We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be.

We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the new world, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old>.

Put's it all into context don't you think?

Best Regards,

I hope you have a very tasty launch, and a palatable desert to follow.

Wow people still play this! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I did start converting this campaign to use Canon's map (before the 352nd Cross Channel map was released) and replaced Lags with Spits (where we were forced to make use of Lags before the Spits were in the game)

I got roughly 3/4 of the way through the campaign before I burnt out.

I will probably get back to it one day, maybe when 4.10 can be modded, but it is really time consuming!

I don't think I'd ever redo the tracks that we used inbetween missions as that would kill me!

And flying from England to Jersey in ten-tenths cloud on instruments for about 15 minutes was a worth while but heavy challenge...

Awesome to hear comments like this as when we created the campaign and included several non-combat missions we were really concerned that people wouldn't appreciate them.
