Will it be possiable to skin the essex class carrier ?
If so;
Would be interested in the CV to BunkerHill.
Since my father had served aboard her I would really like see that ship skin applied.

Once had a chance to board the Bunkerhill back in the 60's when she was still laid up in the "Mothball Fleet" in Bremerton Washington. Rumor at the time was that her keel was twisted from all of the damage, such that even then she was not modernized and was still in her WWII configuration.

That would be great if she and some of the other valliant Essex ships could be 'skinned' with the correct camoflage patterns and numerals.

Would like to follow his steps threw the Pacific with the game.
It will be intersting to do that with the mission builder.
Luckily he was not on the ship when it was hit.

Worlds best damage control! Those fleet carrier ops would have been a thing to see! To be able to 'fly' from Bunkerhill would be very meaningfull for you, hope it happens! Just to be on her, even briefly, was loaded with history.

How do you know?

SaQson is right. You cannot make skins for the ships or ground objects. How do we know? We just do.

That's a shame.

We've been told many times now no skinning non-aircraft.

Is there a proceedure for 3d parties to make skins for existant objects, kinda like doing new aircraft? It seems like a good skinner could go through some process to get a copy of the void, and make a skin, then submit it. I guess you'd need a 3d app and a copy of the model since there is no place to put it in game to test it, though.

The new version, if accepted would have to become a uniquie new object for each skin they accept, however (ie: Lex in prewar paint, Lex in war paint would be 2 separate CVs). Just as summer/winter objects are the same, with unique skins.

No. And hardly will be. Mostly due to the reasons, it would take time of the dev team and will enlarge the size of the patches.

Yeah, I figured as much. Still, it would be cool to see something like the FB trawler reskinned minus the Russian flag for use in the PTO. Same with the Italian-flagged Elco PT.

A few other suggestions that i made in my FMB thread that are small changed to existing objects...

A version (static only?) of a small ship like the trawler with palm branches stuck to it as camo---the ship list we've seen includes the IJN landing barge, same with that, one covered with palm fronds would be cool.

Another idea that is a simple mod would be something liek the dry cargo ship we have as a static object---not the normal ship, but in the damaged state, and partially sunk. Change the DM for it to make it unsinkable---this would make for a cool, beached wreck. If one end was awash. Then you could even put a AAA on it (there was a wreck at Buna or Wewak that the japanese did this with).

Now, this is quite interesting idea. Actually I will probably try to make something like this, if I'll have enough time for that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I guess if it were an object, and not a ship, it wouldn't sink. Trucks (static) placed on water don't sink.

Have the damage level be huge, or make the destroyed version identical so it doesn't go away.

Merchants would be ideal for this.

BTW, here is what I mean about camo on ships:

Landing craft (barges) with camo along a coast.

Sea Trucks with various camo (note the LEFT truck in the bottom RIGHT picture...)

And for wrecks...
I have better images though, just not scanned...

It might be helpfull when posting scanned images to reduce them in size such that they will easily display, especially on smaller screns for those of us that travel with laptops. 4"x6" to 6"x8" is a reasonable size. there are many photo editing programs in which you can adjust the image size and resolution.

Thanks for the info!

Sorry, I scanned them for a specific thread a while back, and haven't changed the size. FWIW, those are the small versions http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
