Has anyone had a PS2 controller working in vegas? since it won't let me map the buttons http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif only see an option to use a 360 controller.

I doubt it since it is a port of a 360 game.

Sorry.

It also happens to be on the PS3 now >< Same buttons as a PS2.

Yes, but my point still stands.

technicaly it should work as all you are doing is plugging your controler into the pc and its recognises it as a controler.
if it wont work the way you want it to see if u can play about with the settings so that when you push each button it recgonises it as a keystroke (a, b, c, etc)
so cross could be a, square b, triangle c, circle d.
then in the game all you need to do is set it the way you want it.
not sure how u can do the sticks tho...

"technically" that's not correct. Regardless the computer recognizing a "controller", it still has to recognize the controller buttons. Meaning, you'd either need drivers for the controller (good luck) or you'd need to be able to map keys/mouse buttons to the controller (equally good luck). While you kind'a have the right idea... it's simply not that simple. =)

you guys fail to realize that only the WINDOWS XBOX 360 controller works, and not the regular XBOX 360 controller.

This statement is slightly off.

First off, the wired 360 controllers that say they are for windows are the same thing as the ones for 360, the ones marketed as "WINDOWS" come with a driver disc and that is the only difference. Since you can download the drivers from MS anyway it really doesn't matter. As long as you have the drivers installed then any wired MS 360 controller will work with vegas. The xbcd drivers are superior to the MS drivers, so you may want those if you are going this route.

The wireless 360 controller for windows DOES NOT WORK WITH VEGAS! They just don't. This may be fixed in a later patch.

Now, as far as other controllers are concerned Vegas doesn't seem to work with all controller drivers. However, the idea that the game only works with 360 controllers isn't true although I can see how people think this since the options menu says "360 controller for windows".

To test if your setup may work click the controller option in then menu, then use your mouse to navigate yourself into a game, single player or multi. Once you are in game if you try out your analog sticks and your D-pad and if they work then there is a good chance you may be able to find a working solution.

For button mapping you'll need to configure your buttons in your driver utility. You may also be able to find the file within the ubi folder or within the vegas profile and try to edit the button mapping that way, but I wouldn't recommend that.

Personally, I don't like the feel of the 360 controller very much. I custom made myself a usb adapter for an xbox 1 controller, took me 20 minutes (you can buy one instead of making it) and along with the xbcd drivers it works very well for me. I didn't have to mess with any button layout because the layout was nearly the same one that they had for the old Rainbow Six games on the original xbox and I already knew that layout very well.

You'll get people telling you that a controller isn't as good as a mouse and keyboard but it really depends on the user. Here's a screenshot I took last night of me killing the entire enemy team as proof.

SuNGoD is one of the best players in this community and to actually get those 5 kills I had to run full steam through the entire level scooping up all the kills before he got to them. Sorry SuNGoD, I'm just greedy like that! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Here are some more screenshots of controller carnage...

laykara u say mapping the keys is hard, it depends how you look at it if you know how to do it, it isnt too hard (if i can do it then with a bit of googleing anyone can)

also i think there are programs that can do it, seen them around but they are few and far between.
