Interesting for an American company to land an Arabic name for it.

i think altair has some kind of latin meaning
eagle or flight or something so fairly apropriate http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT: no it was arabic meaning
"Altair is the brightest star in the constellation Aquila and is the twelfth brightest star in the night sky," wrote Lauri Hansen, NASA's Altair project manager

"The word 'Altair' finds its origins in Arabic and is derived from a phrase that means 'the flying one"

In Latin, 'Aquila' means Eagle

theres my research done for the school holidays http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, next time astronauts will walk on the moon, they will find a piece of eden. A super advertisment for AC3 It will be like...OMG, look what we have found! A golden ball, the piece of Eden! Hey people on Earth, play UBISOFTs Game Assassins Creed 3 and kick the Templars butt. Save the world, be Desmond! Astroanuts from moon to people on earth. This is the Cover of AC3. Available for XBOX, PS3 and PC"

Ubisoft will most likely buy that to hypnotise us into buying all of their games that ever comes out! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Actually if I remember correctly, Altair actually meant "Son of none", or something. I think it said that in the manual. I'm not sure, so correct me if I'm wrong.

NASA is addicted to Assassin's Creed. It's weird though since the logo has an Eagle on it and Ezio actually means Eagle... Why didn't they call it Ezio? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

The A in that logo looks familiar, the ship has a Templar Cross on it, and it's called Altair? It's also scheduled for release in a few years? I don't care what the PR says, this has Assassin's Creed written all over it.

Not really.

In any case, I think NASA does this on more occasions. It's definitely a reference to the AC series. Skynet is another reference they made. :P

I can see the headlines: '' The multinational corporate giant, Abstergo Industries, recently announced their merging with NASA. What this will do to Abstergo shareholders is for the moment unknown, but financiers all over the world speculate on the outcome. In other news, reports of increased solar activity is dismissed by NASA...'' The end is nigh http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

"Thats one small step for games... One giant leap for Game-kind"

Sorry couldn't resist. Maybe NASA should install a PS3 for the journey there too???
