Could you give your PC's specs? Including the soundcard you have, if you can http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also, did you download the latest patch and the latest drivers for your soundcard?

The key is knowing what soundcard you have and checking it for conflicts.

If no conflicts exist remove it and have the PC detect it again.

Problem I found with my computer is the Virus software and firewall. For some odd reason my Norton antivirus program was causing some files to be delayed. Turn these programs off and if your scared of viruses, and your not playing online unplug internet.

Check your computer resources too. If you click on the run button type in the following command. "msconfig" Then hit enter or press ok. This will be a list of all the programs running or starting up. Go through the list and turn off anything that you do not need unless its a windows file. Strong caution here if you turn off windows file, windows may not function correctly. ( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif I know lol)

When you click ok it will tell you to restart windows and when it comes back up you will have a window that says something about "windows is in selective startup" This is ok. No check your resources again. You can do this in Windows by hitting "ctrl + Alt + delete" there should be an option in the window that pops up that will have a graph and tell you what percentage of memory your computer is using.

If this fails there is a program called "End it All" that I used for Flight sims. It turns off stuff not needed to increase processor power for the game. Not sure where I got it from but if you google it you should find it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also if you have not really gotten into a career I recommend reinstalling the Windows Xp and getting all service packs and upgrades. Then make sure that your hard drive is clean and also defragged. Something that cannot be stressed enough.

Another thing is did you install or modify the sounds for the depth charges. If not then check the above things mentioned.

Also I have noticed that alot of people say to run SH3 from the actual EXE and not a desktop shortcut. I'm not sure why but it did work for some of the problems I was having. I hope this helps.

Good luck and Hunting
