It's clear that IL-2-series has one of the most detailed damage modeling in flight simulators. It models accurately each bullet and fragment. The planes get bullet holes on their wings and loose ailerons etc. http://www.pacific-fighters.com/ss/f41.jpg

However the visual damage is skripted. The same body panels break and bullet holes appear on same places as previous times. The old B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th! is the only simulator which has dynamic visual damage. I tested it by shooting friendly planes. The bullet holes appeared just where you shot. I even wrote my name on a fuselage. The engines first started to leak oil which little by little stained the engine and the wing. The oil wake really looked like real fluid as it smoothly wound in the air. In many games the oil wake looks more like leaking gas. Then the engine caught fire. Again the flames looked more realistic than in Il-2. Of course B-17FF doesn't model damage as accurately as Il-2 but it has better visual damage.

So, it would be awesome if BOB had dynamic visual damage modeling like B-17FF. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

don't worry, that's already a planned feature for SoW:BoB.

"Detailed damage modelling - The damage will appear exactly where bullets and shells hit."

I think it's been discussed before.

It's possible to do, but requires lots of computing power to show every hit when the damage model is as complex as Il2.
