Hi,

I just wanted to know whether or not the Seafire had a seat that could raise and sink like so many of the other carrier borne aircraft. Is it just missing from PF, is it a bug (the raised seat position seems a little tempramental sometimes), or did the Seafire never have one? It's got a big nose and I'm finding it hard to see the carrier under me as I make my approach.

If she has then I've been playing my campaign missions much harder than I had too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif No sorry mate she doesn't.

I think that reason and her fragile landing gear makes her one of the hardest carrier-borne aircraft in the game.

Read a very interesting article about the Seafire which stated that they lost more of them in carrier landings than in actual combat. This was especially true for the earlier models.

Hey my offline campaign seems very historical, at least the part about carrier landings. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Been looking for that first picture for ages! That picture shows:
1) Reduced size roundels
2) Light blue, dark blue coloring (although the light blue shows as white in BW photos)

Thanks for that, nice pics too. They look like my landings.

I'm reading a book about Johnnie Johnson ATM and in it he says he adjusts his seat higher or lower for combat positions for tight turns and this is in a Spitfire II so maybe the Seafire had it aswell, not sure whether its in the game as i cant even get my canopy to open...anyone else have this problem?, i have assigned a key for this.

I thought I read somewhere here that the seat postiion toggle doesn't work if you're zoomed into the gunsight view? Has anyone tried changing the seat both zoomed in and out of gunsight veiw, just to be sure?

According to the game manual, only the Corsair, Wildcat and (some) Zero (versions) have the seat raise option..

Many combat aircraft had adjustable seating position (definately the Mustang), but my guess is these weren't specifically for Carrier landings, just comfort/combat reasons.

Rgr the Seafire has a big one post....

I find the Seafire much easier to land then for instance the Corsair.

The hook on the Seafire is a much better design if you ask me.

Yeah its one of the easiest actually with that long hook in the back. In general I line up with the deck, point the noise at the deck, quick dive, even quicker transition, and pancake. All very quickly of course.
