Can you possibly summarize the article and explain what the game will consist of.

I've always wanted a PT boat sim, and I can't think of a better team to do it. Akella's terrain and water in their pirate game are topnotch, but the game itself is supposed to suck. But put those effects in a Maddox sim and you've got my attention. Wonder what theatres will be present--looks like some Russian craft in the screencaps, but there better be some Med and Pacific stuff too.

I have played Engima, and I was disappointed. I'm a huge fan of Sub Sims having played Silent Hunter 1 & II and Sub Command the nuke sim (excellent, highly recomended).

I waited with baited breath for Enigma for over a year as the screen shots where published and the dev team psoted at our forum on a regular basis.

Then I played it. Thought it was too much like an arcade game, the controls were difficult and there was no depth. The graphics were good but it takes more than that.

Not on the level of the others and I think if you play IL2 you would be disappointed in its realism settings.

Available as a demo, it's worth trying.

Gibbage already started a thread on this sim. It's very improbably made by the Maddox team. 1C:Maddox is only one part of the much larger 1C company, which if I'm not wrong is one of the biggest software develops/marketers in Russia.

Just to set the record straight. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-wink.gif

if they are doing PT boats then I hope to god we finally get to see UK coastal forces and not just the skanky US PT boats in the Pacific.

if they do brit MTB's we get a hell of a variety it'll be cool

the original short MTB's that carry two torpedoes
the long MTB that carries 4

the short MGB's
the long MGB's

the Fairmile A, B, C launches

the RAF rescue launch

the D class fairmile MGB and MTB

and that's just for starters.

then you've got 4 or 5 versions of german E-baot. S-boats, F-lighters, I-boats. destroyers

good stuff.

The game is by Akella, here's a quote directly from the developers:

"Our close cooperation with 1ě/Maddox Games, the leading flight simulator developers and renowned for IL-2 Sturmovik, allowed us to create historically accurate and detailed aircraft models."

Cool, so Maddox provided 3d models and probably some FM for them. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif

What would be cool, and I think feasible if they set it as an objective, would be an interface between an FB followon, Pacific(Or european) theater product, in the 3Q2004 timeframe and this new PT-boat product. One could fly a Zero, for example in FB/Pacific and interface/combat the naval forces of the PT boats and other ships/forces. Something like that Silent Hunter vs Destroyer command arrangement. Except this would be Fast! Flying the attacking Zero, let's say, or a Val and being fired at by Human AA on the PT boats/destroyers/whatever!

The future holds SO much promise for WWII simulations! Oleg could take over the world... Let's hope so.

^ Yea, I was just thinking of that, great idea. Or what about linking FB with the upcoming strategy game? They use the same engine, so why not? Just imagine the possibilites.
