when are you guys going to merge the PF forum with the GD forum. you're about to release This thing (http://play.com/play247.asp?pa=sr&page=title&r=PC&title=866127) on what this says is March 24th.

Don't you think it would make sense to do this? it's stupid going back and forth between these 2 forums. we are about to get a new influx of players looking for help.

which reminds me, everyone be nice to the new players. we want the community to grow. don't scare them off with rudeness. we all want more pilots to shoot at.

Hrmph!! Sure, now that I get FB/AEP, they finally show real news of the Complete version! Just my luck.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Wow, I can almost feel the box!

Ah, well...

BTW, ya, I agree about merging the programs. I am never really sure where is 'right' to post regarding FB/AEP/PF merged questions.

(Ya, and tell people to be nice to the experienced players too!...)

I agree. I think some newbies who only fly FB or PF might get a little confused at first. But once they realise they need to specify what game they have, it will be nice to have many of the discussions together.

Actually, I'm glad (and pleasantly surprised) to see that I don't get blasted for occasionally posting a thread that might be considered 'better in another forum'. People here seem to be very generous with their help, and see past that, and just get down to answering the question at hand.

There's surprisingly few of the usual 'I don't have that problem' and 'Why would you want to do that?' types, as well as people who seem to have a talent for completely misinterpreting what you are asking/saying. I've had that elsewhere/previously, and that is always really annoying...

(That, and the fact that so far no one has burned me about my overuse of '...' and parenthesis!)

(Oh, I feel a bash coming on!)

It would be good to hear from stand-alone PF owners on this topic as well as us 'mergies'. Some of them may feel they deserve a forum of their own - and they probably have a right to that choice. We may know what they're missing not owning the whole series, but we don't have the right to force a merge of what is for them two distinct games into one forum.

Devil's advocate rant over! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Good point! I was (until recently) a stand-alone PF player. I had skipped that whole FB thing... until I recently gave in and actually managed to find it for sale. Now I'm merged. Never thought I would be.

So, ya, very good point.

I think it's not a big issue, as long as the people here continue not to burn people about posting merged/non-merged questions in the same forum.

You're right on that point. I'm sure everyone remembers being a newbie. I'm still a newbie, just less of one as time goes on. And thats because of all the nice guys on this forum who have no problem answering any questions people ask -- even if they're the same old questions.

Which brings me to this kind of off topic point. All of us, just by belonging to this forum and playing so much are IL2 nerds. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But there are also a lot of IL2 snobs in here too. When a newbie comes on and asks a simple, honest question, these are the people have to give a wise A*s answer and make the person feel like a jerk. It's almost like they take personal offense to the question. They're the same guys who get all offended and start an argument when someone says they don't like a certain plane, or they don't like fly red, or they don't like to fly blue, they like icons/no icons... And of course the guys who fly cockpit only (of which I am one.) They flip out and get all mad at the guys who like externals, padlock, and icons. They call them poor "pilots" and say stink.. it's a sim not an arcade game, blah, blah, blah... I happen to like flying cockpit only... but do I care what other people do, or what other people think is fun? NO, I don't. So when the new newbies come I hope everyone is friendly and treats them nicely. And what did your parents say when you were a kid? "If you don't have something nice to type, don't type anything at all?" Sorry about the rant.

Oh, and to they guy who's going reply and say I'm a hypocrite for not "typing something nice" by calling people IL2 snobs? Please don't, I'm just making a point. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, that's already happened. This forum, called "Pacific Fighters" is pretty much awash with merged topics. No surprise there, since the relative numbers of people who fly merged is so much greater. Is there any difference any more between the PF forum and the GD forum?

Ladlon, I think I am only surpassed in the "use of quotation marks and parentheses" department by you (although I could be wrong). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Hrmmm.. I forgot about quotation marks. Ya, I use a lot of those too... Sometimes singles, sometimes doubles...

(Wow, I managed not to use parenthesis!)

Oh, actually no I didn't.

I agree, the forums need to be merged, which will also accomplish one other necessary element, room for the establishment of the BoB forum.

Be sure.

I prefer to keep them separate. Pacific Fighters has some different issues and interests from FB. I'd really like a forum for more Pacific and less ETO talk.

I have to side with Nimits. I have both the merged IL2/FB/PF and separate IL2set and PF installed. And I am not offended if comments appear in the wrong form or area. However, like Nimits, I do like separate forms for the different combat areas for the reasons he has listed in addition to cutting down on the searching and quantity reading.

I've historically been indifferent about this topic, but as time passes, it would seem to make good sense to merge them.

But alas, this is no democracy and when Emperor UBI decides to merge them, it will come to pass. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
