work at dane county regional airport and tomorrow a B-17 is landing for a five day stay-over prior to going up to EAA http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif . i'm carrying my cam-corder with me all day, and airport ops is going to call me when it's coming in. with a little luck i'll be able to get some video - it will be giving rides but my wife says we can't afford the $350 for a ride http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif , so i'll have to console myself with exterior video. see some of you on friday the 29th at EAA

Most touring B-17s will let you walk around inside for a small doantion (about $5). Well worth it. The planes are amazingly small on the inside when you consider that they had a 10 man crew. The FAA requires that the interior parts of the turret assemblies be removed if they take passengers up so they look even more "spacious" than they would have in fighting condition. Walk across the bomb bay and imagine doing that inflight!

I hope to be going up in a B-17 tomorrow myself. The "Liberty Belle" just became operational this year and she is in the town where I work. I'm supposed to go up at 10AM. I have a 35mm camera and another guy has a video camera so we should get some good shots.

aluminum overcast suffered a gear strut failure and was being rebuilt - i do not know the status of repairs.

this one should be fuddy duddy. it's not that i don't think it's worth the price, i can't afford it - my wife even said she'd give it to me if we could, we just can't.

but at least i have the security to walk the tarmac and get real close

Yes, it will be Fuddy Duddy. They found more damage on Aluminum Overcast and the latest on her is she probably won't be back in the air until next year. In the meantime Fuddy Duddy will be taking her place...Enjoy!!!

Man you'll kick yourself if you don't go.
I didn't go on a PBY cause of money shortage and have kicked myself ever since.
I would hate to be the cause of a divorce though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
