It was posted earlier that it was fixed in 15 minutes and it been a week plus---play the single mission with the P-47 when AA starts firing your engine sound/and all other sounds jumps to low to enjoy game...most of the sound is so awesome-that AA bug makes game experience sub par on the "simulator" genre..common just a small quick fix patch for sound--call it a beta and I'll Test it Im not Afraid...

"The Eyeties are comparatively easy to shoot down. Oh, they're brave enough. In fact, I think the Eyeties have more courage than the Germans, but their tactics aren't so good. They are very good gliders, but they try to do clever acrobatics and looping. But they will stick it even if things are going against them, where as the Jerries will run." Beurling in Malta Spitfire

I think it's a week ago (maybe more) that Oleg (in ORR) asked 'the public' for a early release of the fix.

He really made it look like it was going to be ready the day after so to speak.

Oleg is a good guy but, you can't trust him with release dates /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

YEAH, it is a bug. actually, muting the sound engine when something explodes near you, makes sense. It overloads your ear for a moment so, you can't hear alot.

After that brief moment, everything should return to normal. Altough, I admit the effect is too strong now.

As the situation is right now, the sounds stays muted, sometimes, for the whole time! It just might be a feature actually but, it doesn't work 100% so, I think it can be removed. (sorry for the poor programmer who made it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif )

that's a cool feature, but I actually don't want to see/hear it implemented unless they added a 'ringing-ear' noise too! (look at vietcong for such noises!)

that cant be the way it works bcos in that case you wouldnt hear AA or planes gun fire 5 miles away either.

im begining the think that Oleg doesnt infact have a clock of any kind maybe he still thinks it is still last week http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

God, I'm getting tired of pointing this out. The really loud sound you hear IS NOT A FLAK EXPLOSION! It is the SOUND OF A FLAK GUN FIRING! The two sounds, regardless of volume are distinctly different. Now if you would like to continue to explain how this a "feature," please feel free...

Definitely a new bug that's gotta be fixed! BAM! I durn near jumped out of my seat the first time I heard it and looked around for damage thinking I'd been hit by an 88 shell. Yeah, then it sounded like my ears had been damaged. A major bug in an otherwise much improved sound system

There's a HUGE difference between "found in 15 minutes" and "fixed in 15 minutes".

Frankly, I've been convinced, since before I bought IL-2, that there are some crippling sound problems in DirectX 8+ Maybe not bugs per se, but issues where doing the 'right thing' according to the documentation is entirely the 'wrong thing' people have mentioned EA's lack of sound problems, I think that a team at EA figured out a good workaround or found something undocumented and they use that. Other developers who haven't figured it out aren't so lucky.
