Use the PrintScreen key. Its next to F12 at the top of the keyboard. Teh shots will be in your main IL-2 directory. They will overwritten each time you start the game up, so save any you like with a unique file name. Use a program like irfanview to play around with the files.

I'd strongly suggest downloading and using FRAPS. It has a screencapture option that actually works quite well and saves them in JPEG format instead of TGA. FRAPS is free and uses very little resources.

Press the Printscreen key.

I find it especially useful to take as many screenshots as possible during a quiet period such as when an enemy plane is on my 6.

Advantages:
a. It saves wear and tear on your F6 key.
b. It seems to make you more difficult to shoot.

Disadvantages:
None

Or at a pinch you could open the screenshot in quicktime, copy it and paste in paint.
