Haven't seen the markings for the 403rd. Was wondering if our markings are going to be recognized in the next patch?

Ditto for 401/402 sqn.

Or any Canadian squadron for that matter?!!

And I'm a bloody limey(UK) for christs sake!

The lack of commonwealth ETO Sqns is (especially RCAF) quite shabby IMHO.

You can create your own letter prefix, for example YO- for 401 and AE- for 402, by changing the text in the 'ubitest' regimental file

Hi Gryph (sir!) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yes, i've done that to get a couple of RAF squads for online play, but I like my offline campaigns which custom regiments do not appear i.

To look at the choice that is available with regards to ETO Spitfire Units when starting the BoE Spitfire campaign we have;

1) Polish RAF squads - it's great to see these chaps represented. To often the contribution the Poles made towards the victory is overlooked for a variety of reasons. I question why tho some of the Squadrons are duplicated, and then theres using them within the RAF campaign stucture - with all those brit/scot/aussie/canadian radio voices not a polish accent among 'em! Kinda loses the immersion. For me it is the same with the free french and czech squadrons.

2) Most of the squads remaining of ETO operation either did not fly Spitfire MkIX (e.g No 3 sqn flew Tempsets, 91 Sqn did not convert till very late 44) or were not even with 2nd TAF - only 602 Sqn of those available flew Spit IXs and was based in france after D-Day. Nos 1, 33, 501 were Air Defence Great Britain all based in UK with occasional patrols over beachhead.

3) And as for new PF squadrons, why do we need so many transport squads?!?!?!? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

with the massive selection available I think Oleg's team missed some better choices. Looking at ETO RAF a/c we have now - hurri MkIIb/c, spit Vb, spit Mk IXc/e there were plenty of squads which operated this exact sequence of a/c (401 Sqn RCAF springs to mind) and operated with 2ndTAF that aren't represented. The same will be true of the Tempest when it arrives.

oh gawd I just realised what a ranting anorak i've become...... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Ditto for The Miconesian Army Auxilliary Air Force 33rd Artillery Reconaissance Training squadron.
Given that Lord Beaverbrook had had a direct impact on the supply of British aircraft and components during the Battle of Britain, L33T must be included as an historical squadron.

Right, sent a report to Oleg that points out a few errors in the squadrons listed in USAAF and RAF and as a post script very politely asked if a couple of RCAF squadrons could be thrown on! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We shall have to wait and see..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Hehe.. Tiger, thats one of the squads I asked for! Codes '2I', IIRC. Also for 401, 402, & 403 and a coastal command RCAF squad (for the upcoming Norway map that Ian Boys is working on).

We've asked...we even had a big long 10 page or more thread here in the ORR one day asking for recognition of the RCAF squadrons and squadron numbers....there was even a fellow who got all the necessary details together and sent them in.

But no avail.

RCAF is the forgotten airforce of Forgotten Battles. We don't talk about our contributions to history enough maybe http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
