LOL... btw no tags over the planes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif full real !!!! LOL

Well the planes seems to have way more power than a I16 or I-153 but you have to love those sceneries of future simulations http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Dear All,
This speed thing in the CGI has been discussed before, but I for one having thought about it think that from a stationary and fixed point in the sky without the ability of ones head and eyes swivelling through 180 degrees plus and following the movement it WOULD appear to move much faster. It's a bit like standing on the curb and observing cars go by at 30-60mph without moving eyes or head.....everything flashes by like a blur and only becomes clearer as the distance from the point from which you are observing becomes greater.
So I think that it is more accurate that not.
Best regards,
SLP

Exactly my thoughts.
In a previous thread I compared it to helicopter shots from other movies.
It looks hell fast ( even if it's only 70 mph).

I think they used MS flight sim to make the clips http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Not to sure if they make enough beer to wash this Puppydog down or have it Fly Right. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Furballs on the deck, chasing burning planes, planes crashing into each other...

Oleg was right when he said movies would be based on the IL-2 sim. They obviously used a track from a dogfight server.

Looked like a righteous hellraiser to me. No idiots running along the envelope of exploding zeppelins, thankfully. CGI looks better in Knights of the Sky. The Blue Max deliberately gave you the impression the aircraft flew slower than contemporary aircraft. The opening dogfight scene which Stachel witnesses from the ground in his trench is made to look like a leisurely ballet punctuated the staccato bursts of machinegun fire. The peacefulness of the scene is abruptly shattered by one of the aircraft suddenly belching smoke and plunging towards earth.

Contemporary audiences would not tolerate exposition of this sort. As in 300, everthing has to take place at a furious pace. Hyperkinesis is the mode of the day. The accelerated speed of the action is an aesthetic choice, has not a thing to do with physics.

The period effects appear to be astounding---the street scene (Berlin?) at the start of the trailer was fantastic.

I'll see this one. I refused to see Fly Brats.

Manu-6S... The restaurant down the street from me the owner is from Northern Italy... Extremely Good handmade pizza and dishes. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Not a fan of frozen pizza... better if you make it yourself!

But back to the flick... been up in a Stearman Bi-plane before and once your in the air it seems like your crawling along up there! LoL

Very impressive but much over the top. Sorry, it is so intense, fast, nearby and crowded, it just feels fake and choreography.

CGI is irregular there. Some is incredible, some is awful.

But I won't miss this one, if just for the topic and the "wow" factor.

Did someone mention 'Red Baron'?

The real origin of that CGI.

Always a hard one to reconcile, the portrayal of what was taken at the time to be the ultimate in speed and technology as it's protagonists saw it, as opposed to the expectations of today's thrill-hungry transformers brainwashed audience.

I fear that yet again we're in for more 'hot-shot pilot pursues nurse' pap (even the recent 'Dresden' movie went down this road) with a few dogfight scenes thrown in to break up the mush. I agree with Dux re the variable CGI quality from said clips. I'll probably wait for the DVD and enjoy the action sequences for what they are, but wouldn't include it as part of a history lesson for anyone wanting to find out what it was really like.

Just my 50p's worth.

Intense, overdone, madly choreographed, and probalby fake to the extreme, but I just love it. Some beautiful shots! It's a tale of childhood heroes, not a PhD in Aerodynaics, and as such it should be bold and romantic.

Perhaps games like IL2 could learn from this. A solid and mathematically correct base is surely the best foundation for a flight-sim, but a "game" needs a bit of soul http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
