I installed the patch and it made things bad for me, so I would like to uninstall and reinstall, but the uninstall function does nothing. I have tried it from the disk as well as the program file. Can I do this manually? Any suggestions?

Try reading through the titles of the first ten topics in this forum.

There are at least two that specifically address this issue...

Just in case that wasn't enough of a hint :P

No offense, just noting that I thought I was fairly blatant in the labeling of the topic that would reference your question.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. Unless I missed something, the other posts don't help me with my uninstall problem. I fixed the problems due to the patch, but I would still like to be able to uninstall the program.

You want to uninstall and then reinstall.

Read the other posts. They specifically tell you how to regress from the patch without uninstalling and reinstalling.

Which is both easier and faster than uninstalling and reinstalling.

And since you're having problems with uninstalling, seems the quicker method.

I would just like to uninstall, but that function does not work and I am not sure how to do it manually, nor how to get the uninstall working.

I did uninstall last night; went fine! moved my saved games to safe place and uninstall from First disk!

Here is a procedure from ubisoft german support website

Open registry with command line regedit (Start > Run > regedit)

in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\
delete key {96F702F3-7CA4-41B5-A70A-4F348DF99A9A}
and in
delete key Myst IV - Revelation

Delete Myst 4 folder and reboot your pc

I would not recommand that method if you are not familiar with windows registry !http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

No, I do not seem to have a vpd.properties file.

well, you could always try installing Myst again without uninstalling it first.

I think the vpd.properties lets the game know where it's at.

So if it's there and the game isn't installed, it won't install. If it's not there and the game is installed, it won't uninstall.
If it's not there and you try to update, the update won't install.

Thanks Maztec, your last suggestion worked like a charm. The first thing the new instal did was locate the old Myst4 software and ask if I wanted to remove it. Thanks again.
