Hello, does somebody know why it seems impossible to generate missions over other maps than Smolensk, Coral Sea, Okinawa and Crimea with the mission generator? Does I have to unlock the other maps by playing campaign or missions over them?

BTW, this game kick a**!

There are no 'unlocks'

What you're describing is the QMB, or "Quick Mission Builder"

It features limited maps, because the idea is to have a quick dogfight, not see the sights on all the maps http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It's also nice for those without powerful PCs because the maps are generally more FPS friendly

The rest of the maps are accesible either in campaigns that come with the sim, ones that you or others make, or single missions that came with the sim, or that you or others make- or else:

They are accesed throught the FMB, or "Full Mission Builder"

Click the button for the FMB. You will get a header in blue on the screen. Click 'file',and then 'load map'. You may choose any map from the list. Warning: using the FMB the first time is like blowing your nose and chewing gum at the same time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif head over to the Mission Builder's Forum to decode the mysteries of mission-making

1st post I see. Welcome aboard. The QMB is limited in it's flexibility, however there are some excellent community made utilities that will more than make up for that.

They are:
The Uber Quick Mission Generator (http://www.uberdemon.com/index2.html) by Uber Demon
and
Mission Mate (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=8) by Crazy Schmidt

Both are very similar utilities but they are both powerful enough and different enough to deserve a place on any FB simmer's hard drive.

You might also want to check out The Sturmovik Essentials link in my sig and pay particular attention to Airwarfare.com.

This page (http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/IL2/il2_essential_files.htm) of Airwarfare.com in particular is a must.

Download the help file from Mission Mate 2.4... once you get used to it you will not use the QMB again.
I recommend that you eventually learn the FMB.. but in the meantime.. these utilities will help you get some of the diversity you are looking for.

There are a couple FMB tutorials out there to make things easier. Here's one: http://www.il2-fullmissionbuilder.com/

have found someone with a really odd problem wrelating to the installation of V.4.08 With an original disc and patched to either 4.07 or 4.071 (it makes no difference) 4.08 begins to install but right at the end of the installation gives an error message and fails to install fully. the game works fine with either 4.07 or 4.071 installed. Anyone any ideas?
Much obliged

Sounds like a corrupt 4.08 patch download. Redownload and try again.
