I'm an old time flight sim guy trying to get back to my hack level after DL'g this great game from Direct 2 Drive. I dusted off all my old CH stuff but there are no game ports on these new rigs. Is there a way to get my old serial stuff to work on USB?

Thanks and the answer is I'm not sure. I actually found something on my own (note to self: Don't be lazy). My new question is anybody using adaptors and if so do they work. While my stuff is old it looks identical to the "new" USB models. I have CH flight stick pro, CH pro throttle, CH rudders, would be a shame to shell out $$$ just to change out to USB if I don't have to.

I use an old M$ j/s with the gameport/usb adaptor & have never had a problem with it. I've run it that way with usb1 & usb2 & with M$ Win98SE & WinXP Pro machines. One of my games "online" [ww11ol] gives you a problem if you have usb flight controllers & usb keyboard/mouse [HID problems recognising everything].....also,remember that the D2D download is NOT a merged version!!! There is a warning now on their page about that.

Thanks for the feed back, I'm going to give my CH gear a try with an adaptor.

Only FB was a D2D, both AEP and PF were box versions. I'm actually having a bugger of a time getting the box stuff to work.

Success rates with Gameport - USB adaptors are not that good unfortunately. You can get Win XP drivers for your CH gameport gear here (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2753) which will let you use your devices as standard directX compatible devices, this will mean you need to map the buttons in the game instead of programming the joystick unless you use 'Blazerbruces' Win XP Boot disk (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=324) programming util.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but direct from a CH rep:

"Our Game Port devices do not work with USB adapters for they are true analog."

Mind you, that only means it's iffy enough they don't support it because I'm pretty sure at least a few people got it to work.

I used a gameport header for my Creative Audigy to attach my CH Pro Pedals.

If you look around you should be able to find a game port card.Just make sure you motherboard has the appropiate slot for the card.

Also since d2d uses smoke and mirrors to make their downloads work without the cd they can not be upgraded(patched) or have the expansion pack added. What you d/led is what you have and that is it.
