Love is in the air!

Water=3
Effects=2

Actually, Effects=2 may be a plaecebo effect now cause I can't tell the difference, but it's all good.

Great job on the patch Oleg & Co. !

Ya, working with my "rcu" file, I got the new big DOTS to slowly fade into Classic FB micro~dots at very long range ~5km.

I set up a sweet rcu file test...

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>
@alias 1 mp_dotrange COLOR 1 DOT 1 RANGE 1 (all else .01)
@alias 2 mp_dotrange COLOR 2 DOT 2 RANGE 2 (all else .01)
@alias 3 mp_dotrange COLOR 3 DOT 3 RANGE 3 (all else .01)
@alias 4 mp_dotrange COLOR 4 DOT 4 RANGE 4 (all else .01)
:
etc...
:
@alias 0 mp_dotrange COLOR 10 DOT 10 RANGE 10 (all else .01)
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
I set up Player TB~3 takeoff open flat ground facing East, with 10 I~16s all at 200m altitude, and spaced 1km apart to the North. Paused the game at first start, looked at line of I~16s stretching off to the North, and cycled through CHAT "rcu" commands 1,2,3,4,....,9,0 and you can see the DOT sizes vary with DOT RANGE setting and range to aircraft.

So, the New Big Dots gradually grow smaller and smaller with distance, vanishing into Classic FB Dots and then nothing. The rate of negative growth of Dot size with target range can be controlled in "rcu" as to player Desire.

Awesome - I just bookmarked this post.

I was wondering about the new BIG dots too and how to tame them.

This is good to know, LEXX, but please forgive me, because I'm slow on following "how too"

I don't want "cartoonish" dots in my online DF matches, so I'm looking for a nice transition. Can you give me a dumber explanation on how to accomplish this?

Surely clients can't specify the dot range with online games. Only the server should be able to specify the dot range. Otherwise, if someone wants to host a game with small dots (to match their preference), some players could overide this and gain an unfair advantage over other players that haven't.

Tell me it's not true that you can change the dot range when you are playing on a server.

Dot range is a very very old issue. If the host change it (and only the host can change it), everyone in the server will see the same configuration.

"Love Oleg, and I love Nvidia!"

That`s how it all starts, but later it`s...

"Agh! No! I hate Oleg! Urrggghhh!"

Some of you are seeing dots? I think, but I'm not quite sure, that this may be caused from the lack of oxygen. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I will make a thread about this soon, after more lab work. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif For those who have long looked up at the real sky at real airplanes, the New Dots are not "cartoonish."
