View Full Version : Question to Fw190 experts about 190A8 speeds in IL2

I have a question for the Fw190 experts regarding Fw190A8 top speeds in IL2 complete v4.05m. The Fw190A8 official test results I have show top speeds of around 665kph (1.65ata) for the Fw190A8 top speed at SL. I have also seen a report showing a top a top speed of 578 using Erhohte Notleistung. Now to the question. Does the chart below show the top speed for the Fw190A8 using Erhohte Notleistung? If not then is there one available to allow me to conduct proper speed testing of the Fw190A8?

The reason I ask is that the Fw190A8 seems to be modelled optimistically at most altitudes. I conducted some level speed tests using 100% fuel and ammo, Crimea, 12:00 noon. Here are the results of my testing.

SL: 591kph
1000m: 596kph
2000m: 593kph
3000m: 594kph
4000m: 624kph
5500m: 662kph (FTH?)
7000m: 640kph

I have charted these speeds onto an official chart showing actual Fw190A8 speeds at 1.65ata. If the official speeds are not using Erhohte Notleistung then it would explain the discrepancy at most altitudes excpet SL where even 591kph seems very optimistic. Granted my German is very limited and I cannot translate these charts, hence my question to the experts.

If the Fw190A8 proves to be overmodelled in speed then 10-15kph might not seem like much but IF some contempory aircraft are slower by a similar amount then it makes a big difference.

You should post that question at the Fw190 Consortium, the link is in my sig. Crumpp and some others have spent a lot of time examining those charts and exactly what they represent.

Thanks Faustnik I will do that.
