View Full Version : LW 110,111,88, getting the most out of them + some questions

I have been using this method for a few days now and personally find it to be far more comfortable and relaxing than using my usual hotas setup as you are using just your fingers to control, not your hands and legs http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Now I can finally say bye bye to my cougar and CH pedals..

I will continue using this method from now on..

For those of you who own a RC transmitter but have not tried this I strongly urge you to give it a go. You wont be disappointed!.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anyone else does this?

Well I tried it with my Futaba, but when I stuck the antenna in the PC all I got were really big sparks.

If you say bye bye to your cougar and ch pedals, I'll give you an address where you can send them to. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have used a Futaba transmitter (USB joystick interface). I think I had overall better control and dual rates and exponential are quite handy for fine tuning. But so far I have not found good solution for the trigger, so I still use normal joystick. How did map the trigger?

"I think I had overall better control and dual rates and exponential are quite handy for fine tuning."

Bingo! Thats exactly what I mean!..

I have the same problem with the trigger as well. I currently have it mapped to the landing gear toggle. So to trigger the guns I have to toggle it using either my ring or pinkie finger, and then toggle it off again. Not exactly the best solution - but it works for now.

I figured the best way would be to mod my transmitter to incorporate a button on top of the stick to act as a trigger..

But lol and behold!! I surfed around on the net and found this.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifThe Multiplex Royal Evo!..

Its got the exact feature I am looking for!...

Here's the review:-
(Look under page 4 "Control Stick Tips", with a pic of the sticks on page 5, u will know what I mean.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif )

Its not a cheap transmitter, but what the heck!! Since I have already spent that much $$ on my cougar and pedals over the years, might as well invest a little more since it serves a dual purpose.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hope this helps. BTW, after reading the review, could you tell me how you feel about this?..

10-29-2006, 03:11 AM
Thanks for the idea and the links . The trigger in the stick would be ideal but buying the MPX EVO... out of my budget.

It might be possible to modify the stick and I just took a quick look inside the transmitter but could not see if the stick can be removed to put an optional stick in.

10-29-2006, 04:08 AM
Here's a simpler idea. All we need to do is to add a button on top of the stick. To do this, we dont necessarily have to take apart the transmitter.

All we have to do is to somehow attach a button on top of the stick (with superglue maybe) with the wires hanging outside. The wires will then go into another USB port seperate from the transmitter's.

Yes it might look untidy with the wires outside, but it'll work - methinks..

ALl right!! I just got it!!

I just came up with the idea of sacrificing my mini-mouse!

I am going to use the button on my mini-mouse. Will just remove the button from the mouse with the usb cable intact, and glue it to the stick!! That will serve as a firing button!!!I can now visualise it in my mind!!

Yes..!! Its so simple not sure how come I've never thought of it before!!

Give me 1 or 2 days..I will post pics of how its done!

Stay tuned!!.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Perhaps this can interest some of u custom-builders.
I love this stuff.

There is a hand-mouldable plastic, wich is in english called "Friendly plastic" and/or "Shapelock", also called "polymorph" .
They are the same stuff but "Shapelock" and "polymorph" are more expensive because it's aimed to adults and repair and art-crafts world.

It's made of small pellets of thermoplastic wich are melted in water only 60 degrees celsius and can be moulded with bare hands when hot but cures to solid extreemly durable plastic.

It can be used to do customade parts to pretty much anything wich wont be heated to the low melting point. it's popular amongst inventers who now can make custom made parts cheaply and quickly.

Best thing with thermoplastics are that it can be re-used and melted as many times you want, and it's environmentally friendly and poisonless.
A must for any 'do it yourself' person. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hi thanks F19! This is certainly worth a look!

10-30-2006, 06:25 PM
ok here's an update guys. change of plans - Seems that the mouse idea wasnt feasible as the mouse pcb is too big even for a mini-mouse.

New idea - I have salvaged the trigger pots from 2 old joysticks. They seem small enough to fit on the sticks.

Will be trying out this idea in the next few days. Hopefully it works. Will be posting pics soon..

ok sorry for taking so long. Good news! The mod is a success!

Its not aesthetically pleasing right now with wires sticking out. But it works! I am so happy!

I will post some pictures when I get back home tonight. Hopefully, this will encourage people who are interested in the idea to follow suit.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif cos its really a great way to fly sims.

Later guys...

I've got a possible solution too. I got this from a friend, don't know for what tx it's made for nor if it can be fitted to my Futaba FX14. The wiring can be a problem too.

I can report at least partial success. The old stik was easy to remove and after a bit drilling, the new stick fitted neatly. The wiring was simple, I just shorted two of the three wires with the trigger. Now the only problem is that one of the pots seem to be bad causing jumpy elevator control.

Hi Wurkeri, glad to see that you have found a solution. I just redid my transmitter using some spare switches I found in my Dad's cupboard.

Its very similar to your setup.

I will post the pics asap.

First the misc questions:

What's the difference between 'Abschuss' and 'Luftsiege'? <and if you can elaborate a bit more, plz do so

Is there a way of getting live stats out of a selected server in your SIG (god help me) a la BF2?

Now the ingame airplane related questions:

The transmitter I modified is an useless now due to the faulty pot. And the axle of the pot seem to be specially machined so I had to order new one from somewhere http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Thanks for the inspiration anyway!

Sad to hear that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif Let us know the progress when you get the new pots yah..
