Gentlemen, after rushing out in terrible weather to purchase this gane I get it home to find I cannot install it!

Basically, the install shield gets to 100%, ity then flashes registering product then goes to publishing information or similar. Then It flashes that the install wizard was interrupted and the game was not installed. It then tells me to try again but no good. I havetried to install over FB etc and also a stand alone install but always the same result.

Any ideas?

PS, I had the same problem with United Offensive and had to install that manually so I assume its my machine and not the game but I've no idea where to start to look for the problem.

Thanks in anticipation

Have tried UBi soft technical dept. Their advice was to lower sound acc to none. Tried it but exact same problem.

Anyone

Are you installing from a CD or DvD burner?

If so, there`s known problems with them and the copy support technique UBI Soft used in the FB install CDs.

Try installing from a plain CD-ROM drive.

Else, keep on posting here for further help.

Not sure if this will work in your case but try going into Control pannel/user acounts/
Make a new account under a diff name. make sure it's an admin account.
Log in under that new name and try to install.
If it works you can delete that account and log back in under your original account.

Sometimes that works for difficult installs.

Thanks for your response Helgstrand.
I tried it but same result,100% then crash.

UBi tech support are supposed to get back in touch after 24hrs but perhaps not on weekends?

I shall selfishly bump back up .

archermav,

Did you ever resolve this problem?

I've now tried to install PF on 3 different systems, all xp, and the installer goes to 100%. Then a message pops up that the wizard didn't finish, and installation was not completed.

I also tried coping all CD contents to folder, and installing... same thing.

Any ideas? Bad CD? I do have a 2nd copy ordered but won't be here for a few days.

Thanks

did it really not install at all ?
have you tried starting it up ? maybe all the content has been copied.

also do you use clonecd, daemon tools or alcohol 120 %. that might cause a problem. try uninstalling them.

why don't you start a new thread in communiy help and post your dxdiag in it. could be several different possibilities, but since you've experienced the same problem with another program, it sounds like a system issue, not related to PF specifically. the dxdiag will provide enough information to make an intelligent suggestion.

Can someone please tell me what drive is required to install PF from it? I have DVD ROM drive (not DVD burner), and CD ROM burner drive.

To put it this way: does ONLY plain CD ROM drive works for installing PF or it can be done with some other drive?

Random shot in the dark: if it crashes when it tries to register, why not try disconnecting your internet while installing?

Pacific Fighters system requirements state a cd-rom drive. The same was true for FB/ AEP. However, the vast majority were able to install and run from both dvd and rw drives.

Just a little question, since I had this problem, too, but with another programm:

Do you all use ServicePack2 ? Never had any problems installing software, but when I patched to SP2, I had the very same problem with several programs. I reinstalled windows, installing software with SP1 only, then with SP2 and 50% of the very same installations didn't finish the registry entries and exited installation, deleting all files.
Another problem might be DVD/CD-emulation software and tweakers/AdWare-Protection, as I've read in some other threads.

yup i am using SP2 do you think that that is the problem?? then what should i do?

I am not sure if SP2 is the real problem - I installed SP2, now, and I still can install most things without problems.

If you want to verify, I'd suggest uninstalling SP2 from your system. I didn't try, as I had someother problems, so I reinstalled windows, so please, if you try, let me know, if it works.

thanks and good luck

Me too. Right at the beginning of install...

quote:
1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime.

Tried installing FP with old 4x CDROM, same thing.

LOMAC install starts ok (just un~installed it).

No Windows SP2. I have used Ad~aware before, and when I was getting rid of adware stuff manually, I deleted some Windows stuff but never hurt me (yet lol). Just about that time I noticed two cheap (9.99$) copies of Flanker 2.51 wouldn't install. Maybe I messed something up.

Lexx, I don't know if this will fix it, but once again Google is your friend in these instances...

Awsum, thanks. Yah, forgot about Google, I've used it before to look up error numbers.

well after nice instevagation i have discovered that the problem laies between SP2 and installshiled, some say i should update the installshiled program but i got no idea how to, if someone tells me i will be able to fix it and i think it will help to fix other games that are doing problmes in the installation like doom 3, call of duty united offensive, far cry, and more!.

This i have understood from other fourms, also they advise to reinstall windows or just to uninstall Sp2, i dont have time doing so so i prefer to update the instllation program, again if someone knows how to please tell me.

Thanks.

Dunno if this info is helpful, I doubt it but I've got the same problem with PF install I had with FB, that didn't happen with AEP. Which is, after the install is finished, I get a disk error that I have to use the Esc button to get out of. It appears not to corrupt the install, but I don't like it. Now, strangely if I delete the install, then reinstall it most often stops happening. The disk error claims the disk is dirty or a bad disk. I'm using a Sony CDRW, non-DVD, and Win98SE. Very annoying, but not fatal thankfully. At any rate, the same problem that many had with FB, has carried over to PF for me, but AEP has no such problems on my system.

Well, yes I did indeed finally get the **** thing installed. It cost me ‚£50.00,cos I'm rubbish with computers and the local shop had to reinstall the OS. So know I've lost all the stuff I had on the hard drive.

Just over a week since I asked the question on the UBI soft web site and I still have not rec'd a reply.

It installed no problem but is very 'jerky; but thats for another post!

I am afraid the hole on my bum will heal over before you get an answer from UBI's help site..

As for the jerkyness read the PF read me in the game folder and see what it says, it helps with certain things, so does the manual, also you might need to update some of your drivers...

suprised they could not back up your data before reinstalling for you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
