View Full Version : UPlay to launch with Assassin's Creed II

Ubisoft's Xbox Live-like community toolset, UPlay, is set to launch next week alongside priority release Assassin's Creed II, according to the publisher's CEO Yves Guillemot.

The system, first announced at E3 this year, will encourage gamers to play Ubisoft titles, as the more they play, the more rewards they'll be in-line for.

"We are creating the equivalent of an Xbox Live system, but for Ubisoft games, where when you play you will be able to have a kind of mileage system - that you have for planes or hotels," he explained.

"The more you play, the more free goods you will be able to have. You will be able to gain competencies and points that will allow you to be part of the Ubisoft community.

"That will be launched with Assassin's Creed II and is just the beginning, but all our games will use this system, and that will allow us to get a lot closer to our customers."

The move is part of the company's three-pronged approach to increasing its market share from 6 per cent to 10 per cent, the CEO detailed, speaking at the BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference earlier this week.

Does sound interesting. Wonder exactly how it'll work... Connect by internet to show how much we play?

I cant find anything about how Uplay work's only that it was announced at E3, so guess we would need some1 from Ubi to clear up how it works or just wait and see.

but my guess would be it's a login system built into the game that relays time in game and achievements to a Ubi server logging it to you. (could even just possibly check up on your PSN/Live accounts to get this info)

That makes sense, why set up a new network when they can tap into existing ones?

Will it work with their previous games too? I've got the whole PoP and Splinter Cell Series + Assassin's Creed and Rayman 3, I wonder if I'll get something for it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I noticed this a few days ago (or was it yesterday? lol) and I thought it would be cool way of giving out rewards... I like those rewards they have there... I really want the extra knives and altair outfit...

Uhhh. I can't wait for this game. It's a shame we get it a few days later over here in UK than in NA. >sad face<

I wonder if we will have to download this Uplay thing or if it will be on the disc as someone briefly mentioned earlier. I wonder how BIG the rewards will be.

Ohh the hype. It really kills me.
