View Full Version : Disappointed in multiplayer support

Hi.

I love the game so much, but I'm very disappointed with the multiplayer support.

I only have Pacific Fighters, installed as standalone game. Most people also have AEP+PF installed. WhyTF can't we join their servers and vice-versa?? I really won't buy another game just to be able to join their servers. I won't fall for that marketing trick.

Was'nt really a marketing trick. Most prefer it to be the way it is. Infact we had to beg to get it as such.

But maybe you'll buy it to get the other planes (many were in the pacific)and maps? Then you'll get more multiplayer options for free http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I was thinking that we could identify Ussian pirated users by their Whines, and legitimate Euro users by their intelligence.

I was (choke) wrong. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Because servers designed for AEP+PF has planesets that include those in PF and those only in PF. What will you, having only PF, do when you spot a fighter that isn't on your hard drive? Should it be invisible?

That's why.

Let's see you have only just bought Pacific Fighters and don't own Il2FB or aces and you want to join an online server. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Personally I'd suggest that you play the game for a few weeks off line and learn how to take off and land before you get your *** handed to you by the online crowd.

Salute and welcome to the Il2 series.

Simple reality:

To enjoy PF at best offline or online... you must buy three products:

Forgotten Battles
Aces Expansion Pack
Pacific Fighters

It isn't like its that expensive. I've seen it on sale for $29.99.

The two games are physically incompatible. How can you possibly expect to join a server that is running a completely different and separate game than you one you are? Will the Normandy Map magically appear on your harddrive?

Further, you are complaining about something before 90% of us even have the game to create a server with. Give it some time and there will be some more PF servers to play on. Though, certainly the FB+PF servers will outnumber the standalone by a wide margin. It's a simple fact that EVERYONE who has played online before yesterday owns FB already. Most will install over that. Wouldn't you?

Ok, then the fault is of most people. A funny 'marketing trick' where the trappers are the majority of customers... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

We BEGGED for this incredible feature that allows most certain PF potential buyers -this is, Il-2FB users- to get the most complete WW2 air sim in History, whilst not disappointing potential new users of the series. Thank God our prayers were heared.

Prangster, this guy shouldn't even adquire offline experience before playing online. He should open a book -any book- first. Unless he's below 12 -a reasonable suspect- in which case he shouldn't even play this without parental supervision. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Anyway, what is behind the whine is easy to see: greenish itchy spicy snake-like Envy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Benefits of FB+AEP+PF combo...

1)almost 200 flyables
2)tons of AI to chose from
3)3 times as many maps to chose from
4)tons of campaigns to fly.
5)multiple theaters coverage, pretty much all with exception of couple.
6)probably 95% of the community will have this combo
7)probably 95% of the servers will run this version
8)PF stand alone will get only PF planes in future updates while combo will get them all.

Is it enough to justify it... or i should go on? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I for one am glad that you will have servers for PF only. If not this community might end up like Fighter Ace III, with 109's and other non Pacific planes buzzing around the Pacific.

Also, as mentioned, you have the game before almost anyone else. Obviously there are not going to be a good number of PF servers yet.

Believe me, once PF hits the shelves in the US, PF player numbers are going to soar. I honestly think PF is going to outsell any of the previous IL2 releases in the US. Most Americans are not attracted to Eastern front games and sims, however the Pacific is a different story.

That`s a pretty strong statement Tak... but everyone is entitled to his opinion. And FAIII ended up like this because of silly server admins, has nothing to do with the game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

9) Specially for Buzz... combo has peaches http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Because thats the way it is.......

Believe me.. it's no marketing ploy. The community wanted it that way. The beuaty of this sim is that you can set it up however you like, so those people worrying about 109s over Midway need to just get over it and learn how to use the sim to set up what they want. Believe me people will come. fluup whats to be dissapointed about? The majority of the community wanted it this way.. as a dual install. Do yourself a favor and dont think of it as a marketing ploy. Marketing ploys are used to try to get people to buy something that is not worth what they are paying for it, or that wont do what they say it will do. BELIVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU THAT THIS IS NO MARKETING PLOY. From all accounts FB 3.0 will BLOW YOUR MIND. Buy Forgotten Battles GOLD and see for yourself. It is hands down the best WW2 flight sim on the market and with the addition of Pacific Fighters it has gone into the realm of the surreal. You will not be diosapointed. If the lone PF set up is what you want then you will be a lonely puppy... Im sure initially you will find single install folks (but then again.... you said they were hard to find now.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif) .. but I gaurantee that after time... these FMs will grow on you and you will want more. Trust me. Six months from now there wont be any single PF servers on HL. All of them will be FB 3.0 servers with Pacific specific (Ooooooo I like that!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif) plane sets. So SUCK IT UP BABY AND GET BUSY!!! OK!!??http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif It is NO marketing ploy. It will be worth every penny.

Fluup, you should be able to get FB quite cheap, saw it for 5 euro in NL. AEP should be around 20.

Yeah I saw it for 5 Euro too. Maybe I should. It's just too bad that I thought I would be ready to go online for the 39 euros I paid.

I'll take a look around in the shops this evening.

Well Fluup, welcome to the wonder world of IL2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Its best to buy the gold pack, IL2: FB and Aces in one, shouldnt be too expensive and its gets you so much, its really a shame. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (waiting for Ivan to go on... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

For 203Ku_Takasaki and other folks:

There will be enough servers hosting realistic planesets. I know we will for sure. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the tip Arnie!

One question though: Is PF's graphics engine different when you install it over FB and AEP?? Or will it look the same as the standalone version?

Takata_

it will be exactly the same look.

-> run to get FB+aces, I'm sure you won't be disapointed... and welcome here http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

All improvements that are in PF will also work for IL2FB + Aces. So you get a lot more with the PF over FB install. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

i totally agree with the original poster many people will think twice if they have to buy 3 games to play online.

instead of a new game is just an extended version

thay split the multiplayer comunity now i need to have installed in order to join all servers:

pf stand alone

2.04

2.04 + pf

this is really stupid for an online game, certainly they will sell a lot but they not only are not gonna get new online players but they will lose some of the old online players

and i will not be buying bob if theres not online comunity

Actually I grew bored with IL2 after going from the demo to FB. The thought of a Pacific theater sim being added to the series brought me back and I went out and bought Aces as soon as I heard there was a Zero in it. Yes, that's right, I played CFS2.
So in reality I'm back in only becasue of PF.
