Good idea. I absolutely love watching the stick forces and movements the pilot uses to go through basic maneuvers. Too bad no one has realised that these forces and stick movements could be measured by someone on the spit and the 109 and various planes and put directly in combat flight sims. No arguing then about over or under modeling huh..? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I bought this DVD a few months ago and I can highly recommend it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The youtube clip is of the 109 at Duxford Imperial War Museum near Cambridge UK.

Sadly, this aircraft was badly damaged later at a Duxford display. The high ranking RAF pilot who was flying the aircraft suspected an engine problem and botched his landing. He overshot the runway and ended up in a ploughed field upside down http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

But to give him credit,he refused to be cut out of the aircraft by the Fire Service as he did not want further damage to the aircraft. When the plane had been righted some time later he exited conventionally by opening the canopy.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif (Despite the risk of a fire occuring).

The aircraft is now on static display at the RAF Museum, Hendon near London.

Best Regards,

It is sad that she wont fly again, that was what she was made for http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif .

But i know that there are much money lost in a crash like that, so i understand there decision.

They wont risk one more crash, and there is a lot of history gone when it happens http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Those sounds. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif The start-up sounds alone are amazing and would be great in the game.

Seeing a body in the cockpit really shows you how little room there is inside too. Great clip.

I thought they were going to repair Black 6? No? Damn!

They did Dubbo...

the bad news is that as a captured piece of military hardware, she has been the property of the Ministry of Defence since the war!

The MoD only allowed her to be flown for a limited time, once those hours were up she was to go straight back into static storage. Whether the prang shortened this period considerably has been debated for a while, but there were strong suggestions that crash or not, she was not long to grace our skies anyway.

Seems such a crying shame, but considering the such few numbers of airworthy, DB powered 109s and the propensity of those that are around to get banged up on landing (hmmm - theres a basket of cobras there....) I'm torn between seeing it fly and maybe badly (or god-forbid, fatally) crashed or at least being able to see it in a museum. We know where the MoD stand it would seem.
