Guys,
since 2 days i've got IL2FB+AEP+PF running on my comp, it runs like a dream on perfectmode but already some odd things have happened on the damagemodellingfront.

The weirdest thing happened 30 mins ago while i was flying OFFLINE the Singe Mission with the P51D called HELPING HAND. I got one of the Fw190's in sight and opened fire, i hit it and kept the trigger down and all of a sudden the whole fw190 seemed to turn invincible, my hits went THROUGH IT doing no damage at all, it did not started to smoke, burn or lose any parts only the debris and a slight coolant leak appeared. I pulled up to avoid a collision and saw the 190 bank down and crashing in the snow... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Does this "invincible"-thing has to do with the pilot getting killed or what?
I'm very sorry but i've got no track of it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

the 190's were long nosed types..

This happens often when flying a P51. You're rarely going to snap off wings, but you most likely disabled all of his controls or got a pilot kill. It is normal to see confetti coming off his plane without seeing a wing or tail come off, especially if you just fire directly upon his 6 where the most armor is located.

Well said Owl.

Thanks for being mature and "asking" about this blazer. Many Allied and Luftwhiners noobs alike jump on here after they see something like this and start screaming about stuff being overmodeled. Thats actually whats supposed to happen, thats the point of armor! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It wasn't coolant, but an oil (from engine) or fuel (from fuselage) leak that you saw.

Coolant leaks aren't modeled.

Debries from a target is just an effect in the game, like smoke. It means that you hit. The damage model of the aircraft and the bebries is not connected. Say: you see a lot of pieces comming from the aircraft, that would not correspond to holes in the plane.

Yeah well i just had to ask, i fly IL2 since the day it came out but had never ever seen this oddness happen before..
I'm not the kind of guy who immediatly yells that it's over/undermodelled concerning this as it could also have been a slight glitch i've seen.

- @ Fennec_P: thx for correcting me, it's sad that coolantleaks are not in this game. The lighting on the mission map was pretty poor, the fw190 trailed light smoke only.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Does anyone know if this weird stuff will get fixed in 4.0 ? (and if hopefully coolant leaks will be added aswell?)

I doubt you'll ever see coolant leaks coming from 190's...except for the D models, of course.
