Next time I get close to Vienna Neustadt, I may have to visit this beautiful bird. Very nicely restored!

There's no drip pan under the engine which means that there are no fluids in it so there are probably no plans to fly it anytime soon. This doesn't mean that it's not in flying condition though.

Translations:

The wings are from a BF-109 G-14 which was shot down during Operation Bodenplatte.

The pilot (Uffz. Herbert Maxis) belly landed successfully but was shot and killed by Allied soldiers upon exiting the plane. This BF-109 G-6 is painted in the colors his G-14 was wearing on that fateful day in memory of him.

The wreck was salvaged in 1987 and during the restoration process was fitted with the rear of a 1942 produced BF-109.

The cockpit is very cramped. You can see the armored plexiglass behind where the pilots head would be.

Wierd then, because otherwise this computer functions normally.

I was thinking maybe this was a prank .... hopefully a non-destructive one.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

that actually helped lose the war!

P-51s may not have won the war, but they did not loose it.
Loosing the war was left to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif
