I think that I am ready to compete online; I own all the 'Sturms and have done well in all the campaigns. I have a great DSL connestion and I play CoD & MOHAA online alot. -NOW-

How the hell do I connect to an online server??
When I click on the "Multiplay" button in the menu, nothing happens, i.e. I get a screen that says "Join a server" or "find server" and nothing works

WTH am I doing wrong? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Unless you know the IP of a server you specifically wish to join, you'll need to make use of one of serveral game lobbies to locate servers. The candidates are:

Ubi.com: software should be included on your game CD but it's best to download it from Ubi.com to make sure you have the latest version. My preference is to avoid this one as it has issues with hosting from behind a router and some other problems.

HyperLobby: Link above for download, this is a free lobby client that caters to quite a few flight sims in addition to the IL2 series (EAW, Janes WW2 Fighters, LOMAC and others..). Usually there are more there than at Ubi.com and the software is much more stable. The only downside is that FB, FB+AEP and the combined and standalone PF versions are all running in the same room. The administrator there is good at responding to community issues so if that turns out to be too confusing he'll likely create one or two new rooms to sort out the confusion.

AllSeeingEye: Comes in a "trial" and purchase version and caters to many games from a variety of genre's. Unless the host of a particular server has specifically disabled ASE connectivity, all servers operating on the internet should show here.

GameSpy: Like ASE comes in a cut down version with no charge and a full featured version that you need to pay for. Also like ASE it will show all games other than those where the host has disabled Gamespy connectivity.

Among the online flyers on this forum HyperLobby seems to be most popular. I fly there and have no complaints. I've tried Ubi.com and gamespy in the past but just feel more comfortable at HL.
