View Full Version : Getting off the deck in an AM2 with a bomb

This just got really, really hard. I'm basically going in the drink 4 times for every time I take off successfully. My left wing always seems to stall and drop. I'm taking off with full flaps and a good deal of right rudder right now and still dropping into the sea far too frequently.

Anyone got any tips more specific than to just stop sucking?

Yes, take the Corrsair, 50% fuel, 1 1000lb bomb, and try and to take off from a carrier.

Don't use the flaps until 3/4 way down the deck.

Post the text of the .mis file for one of those missions so we can try it. Is it a campaign mission?? Is the carrier just sitting there or moving?? Give us more info and hopefully a mission text file.

Assuming this is in DF server like Zeke's&Wildcats

A6M2-21

Spawn.
hit ctrl-C (release chocks)
hit Ctrl-C to reset chocks after a/c bounces on deck. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
start engine
optional: input plenty of r rudder trim (almost full - -21 shouldn't have rudder trim, and is not perfect in game, but throwing this trim in does help a little ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)
input 10 clicks of right aileron trim (this is if you have mapped aileron trim to your left/right arrow keys)
lock tailwheel
open cockpit, raise seat and check in front for a/c
Throttle up ... let it rev @ full throttle at least 3 or 4 seconds.
Ctrl-C. (release chocks)
As air craft rolls down deck, push stick forward, input a little right rudder.
As tail rises, ease off the forward stick pressure to maintain tail up but not nose over.
input rudder to maintain direction.
3/4 of way down deck ... FULL flaps.
As soon as wheels pass over lip of deck, wheels up, give smooth, but fairly firm right aileron, it's OK to let it wallow a little to left, but keep nose slightly up.
As soon as airspeed passes 150/160, raise flaps .. climb out.
well done.

Model-21 has no ruddertrimm.

the first Reisen with ruddertrimm is Model-52 , because we have no Model-22 in game , unfortunatly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yes ... please reread the comment about the rudder trim ... possible bug, or a foible of my joystick, but I can get a half bubble movement by applying rudder trim on the -21.

It's a campaign that I downloaded from a Japanese website.

The carrier is static and I'm supposed to be assisting some Vals in their bombing of Wake island.
