"When Death Calls"

12 missions depicting the battle of Stalingrad 1942, for the Bf-109G-2 pilot.
A major turning point in the war, and is considered one of the bloodiest and largest battles in history. The Axis powers lost about a quarter of their total manpower on the Eastern Front, and never completely recovered from the defeat.

Nice site! Looking good....

Just downloaded it and bookmarked your site. Looks good, I like the skins gallery layout. Good luck with it!

Played the first mission and crashed strafing an AA site. I will never learn!.
Lots of work went into the map layout I can see. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Liked the views of the city burning. Would be especially effective later in the day or evening. Just one thing, you might want to mention what rank the player should select as the character is supposed to be a newb according to the briefing and also what skin to choose(though many people have their favourites anyway).
Thanks for making it. Don't suppose you want to make something for an early FW190 do you?

I've been working on a Stalingrad campaign for a while, also based at Pitomnik. I look forward to giving it a whirl. thx.

I usually don't like static camapigns, but sometimes I feel squirrelly and decide to try one. This sounds like one I will probably like.

i love the detail, i flew the first 4 and then my game locks up. i'm running 4.01m. do i need 4.02m to run this?

11-06-2005, 12:15 AM
Thanx JG2_Mark

Sorry it locked up on ya!
It was put together with 4.02M, but I would say if it runs at all it should be fine??

What are your sys spec? There are some parts that will tax your system pretty hard, bad weather, lots of planes and ground objects etc...

We'll look into it.

Thanks for the campaign Helgstrand.

I downloaded it and played 4 missions. Then it locked-up and I found out that it was after receiving my first award (Iron Cross).
Possible reason:
Perhaps because you introduced new awards, read images, in this campaign?

Best regards,

11-06-2005, 04:27 AM
Hmmmm OK thanx , we'll get it fixed ASAP.

Strange, we played it through on line OK, so maybe ya right about the awards.

JG52~MadAdler made the campaign (it's all his fault...LOL just kiddin) So I'll let him know and hopefuly he can fix it.

Hi Helg!

I just copied and posted this in the German IL2 Forum - I hope it's okay with you http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

BTW: Great work - keep 'em coming! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I would hold off on trying to play this until I get the mission4 bug out. These missions were made prepatch so it might have somthing to do with it.
Checking into it now.

11-06-2005, 10:48 AM
Easy to download...assume it goes to Campaign & not single missions? Many thanks!

11-06-2005, 11:00 AM
If you have the default installatin then the file is self extracting when you run it

11-06-2005, 11:53 AM
Ok prepatch tracks are the problem
Editing the .INI and making some adjustments

11-06-2005, 01:05 PM

Sent a patch and Manual file to Helg.

SSorry bout that.

Yeah, we're sorry about that, but we've been taking beta testing lessons from 1C http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
We are fixing the bugs now and will upload new version later.
Sorry for any inconvenience, we'll let you all know as soon as it's fixed...Thanx

"When Death Calls" is now fixed and available for download...

Sorry to you all that have already DL it...

JG52~MadAlder played through all 21 missions today and insures me it is now good to go!

Have fun! ~S~

Doesn't look correct. The new file didn't contain the 21 missons only the ntrk files and new .ini files. also the new Campaign.ini dosn't include the ntrk files the first Campaign.ini do.

Pls have a look and see if this is a mixup pls.

Otherwise, loved it until it locked up!

Good Work, thanks

I had to remove the tracks because they were prepatch. as far as the missions go there are about 20 (Cant remember) but the campaigne should work now. I also sent Helg a couple of coops and DF maps to make up the hasty release
of the campaigne. LOL! The DAK 41 series of coops are pretty cool. Revented Spawning,No friendly AI, need at least 4 players. also some scripted DF maps with plenty of gound targets.

11-07-2005, 11:10 AM
Yeah, I noticed the same thing as Belzeebub - in the manual install version there are only about 2 props files, trk files and that's about all. Seems kind of brief http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

11-07-2005, 05:12 PM
The Self Extracting file is ok

11-07-2005, 05:37 PM
All is now fixed, again, honestly! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Pls excuse us we're new to this http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Thx for providing the campaign. I have a special interest in this as I have a Stalingrad campaign in the works - 'Last Days in Stalingrad', where your transfer orders have fortuitously come through (back to Germany), but due to limited resources you're stuck in the frozen s.h.i.t.e hole until a transport can be arranged to take you out. Can you survive your last days in Stalingrad? Well, time will tell.

Anyway, I just flew the first two missions of When Death Comes and thought I'd give some initial impressions, especially since feedback is usually pretty thin:

Great name for the campaign. It gives a real air of trepidation.

Nice ground action and 'city in flames' look.

The speed set for the flights are a bit too low - 300 km/hr. Maybe 400+ would be better.

The altitude has also been very low so far. Well, low & slow gives me the heeby-jeebies, that's all. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

In the second mission, I wouldn't have known I'd had a bomb unless I'd had a peek on external view. Perhaps loadout could be a standard part of the briefing.

I look forward to continuing the campaign. Thanks!

Very fun mini campaign...At last the city of Stalingrad looks as if there is a battle going on there!Even tho it eats up FPS its worth itto see the place in flames!many thanks for your efforts...its 3rd party add-ons from people like you that take this sim up a notch or two!

11-22-2005, 11:42 PM
Hi, thanx for the replys guys!

I thought this one had gone dead....

Great points about the speed and altitude, I'll be sure to pass it on to the creator JG52~Mad Adler....

And yes Mad does an awsome job on the details!!
Can't wait till he makes some of his newer work available, you will be impressed! Temp airfields hidden in the trees etc.....

We fly his COOPS/Campaigns as a squad online 3 or 4 nights a week and we never get bored.

As mentioned earlier - a fun effort...great fun ( loved finding and blasting C-47s,)but mine seemed to stop after 9 missions, not 12..Did I hit another glitch or simply a hiccup?
