I think its a great idea but I doubt that UBI would go for it. Even with a big, bright red disclaimer people would still try to pin bad deals and defective hardware on UBI. It would be cool if a forum like this could be started at a third party site like netwings.

I thought for a moment about reasons why we "don't" need it and the reasons we do seemed to outweigh them all. many of us already engage in a small degree of trading/buying/selling parts as it is.

What better than to make a small forum for hardcore bartering and to include heads-up information on one of the more discussed things in this entire forum...hardware!

I am aware that several people have used this community as a way to pass around parts. If a dedicated forum isn't possible, a community tradition might be.

quote:
TERMS OF USE (excerpt)

PERSONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE LIMITATION

You may not advertise any goods or services on the Sites. . . . Any violation of these provisions can subject your Member account to immediate termination (or result in revocation of Guest status) and further legal action, at Ubi's discretion.

Its unlikely Ubi would provide such a forum. However, under the proper guidelines, I would be willing to make a sticky in tech. The first post should set the rules governing allowable discussion and trading practicies. Lucky, since its your idea, please PT or email me with the specifics of the "first post". Its important to get the wording correct to avoid any mis-understandings. Once complete, you make the post and I'll do the sticky.

A sticky with parts description and prices and then the rest would follow via PM only would be the better way. At least to avoid turning it into a wild bidding place, and to make sure it wouldn't mess with Ubi's rules. It would promote more personal trades too.

Works for me. Luckyboy's a genius and fixed all my problems. Too bad I didn't have enough sense not to upgrade my system http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif. Further proof if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Agreed that it is a fine idea, though probably too much of a liability for Ubi to want to host. I might suggest starting an Ebay Users Group instead (free message boards, etc.).

Great idea, if not here maybe Airwarfare.com?

Ok steve v, I'll write it up. I understand the rules UBI has and I certainly do not want to cause UBI any problems. I actually want to help UBI sell the game to a wider audience. Still, I understand UBI's fear that one or two whiners will spoil what would be a good idea for everyone else. Let me do some research into legal type wording and international law concerning internet commerce before writing this up so we stand our best chance at getting it in shape to slide by UBI. Any contract lawyers out there willing to help? If so, please e-mail me at...

One mans trash is another mans gold mine. I'm not really saying that used computer parts are trash. I am just saying what someone replaces as far as parts in order to upgrade, may be, in itsself, an upgrade for someone elses computer. And as demanding as this game is and is getting, a place to talk trade is probably the brightest and most helpful idea for this community yet.

If there is demand for it, I'll make a 'Market Stall' on Airwarfare Forums

And how many times have we sold or even given something good away to someone who didn't appreciate it or get the good out of it? It would be a shame not to see our parts get used to their fullest capabilities. This game will do that!

Ok, here's the deal, steve v chatted a bit with me on the subject by e-mail and my uderstanding is that Eurosnoopy will make up a forum over at www.airwarfare.com (http://www.airwarfare.com)

When he gets it up and running, we will put a sticky in the Community Help giving a direct link to the forum. This way, UBI stays Uber with their lawyers and we get a place to trade or stuff and talk trash about parts suppliers good and bad.

I like this idea.
Just a thought tho, can it be part of the "roolz" that one has to give a 'round abouts' location ?
After all it would be useless of me to try and
send my spare CD burner to that penguin in Antartica.
He's got everything!
