Replaying AC2-1 out of 10 times when I chain my punches together I can do a really sweet finishing move, but most times the guy just falls down. Is there a trick to triggering this?

no i think its random but there is one that if u get behind the person ur fighting when they are on one bar of health you stamp on their head http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

I think its like a combo move with weapons, you know when you hit the enemies body and press attack again you do a sweet fininshing move.
After hes low on health you pause punching and the last punch you land Ezio does a finishing move, dont know how its done exactly but its working for me everytime.

If you throw sand in their face, then punch them, you should be able to do a special one-hit kill move, and they look awesome. I love going around doing that

I managed a pretty spectacular kill last night with the short blade... stabbed the guard in the foot then brought it up and thru his chin. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

I had to look away from the TV for a sec as it was a bit brutal for me.

Tried to reproduce the move to show my BF and just can't manage to get him to do it again. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

This is the correct answer. It's all about learning the timing with different weapons. Combos require you to make an attack, and the official description is "press the attack button again as the first attack connects" (paraphased, don't have the exact wording on hand). In practise, each weapon type has noticably different timing. I have it down easily with main-hand weapons and daggers, and am decent at timing it with fists, polearms and 2-handers.... But I REALLY suck at the tiing with the hidden blade. Don't know why. Have tried every pattern of timing I can think of, but no way I can land them consistently yet.

EDIT: Nicole, the move you're talking can be landed as a combo or a counterattack with a knife, but it's not one of the more common animations. Keep fighting and countering and you'll see it soon enough.

Thanks Obliviondoll... i think it was a counter kill. I think I was mashing the x button constantly and blocking like crazy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

Sounds from our description like it was a counter, but I know for a fact it can be done as either (I've done it as a combo as well).

Yeah, but the one described in the manual ís just a chain attack, meaning that hes attacking the enemy several times in the row, of course, doing this until he is low on health will make Ezio do a finishing move, but you can do a finishing move with a enemy with full health.
If you dodge an attack or deflect a attack Ezio can do a fast attck(depending on the weapon) and hit the enemy´s(http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) body, not the sword and if you press attack again he kills him instantly.
