If you use the right setup and do some miner tweaking it is the best invention for PC flight simulation games after the invention of the Joystick and the Paddles.

Same experience for me! Absolutely great! It took me 3 weeks however to test, tweak and understand (!) how it works! The manual is not that helpful...

Right settings with a dead zone are absolutely necessary, the hole thing works better, if you wear a baseball cap with a dot in front of it! Try it! Buy it!!!

Best wishes and good luck and much fun from Germany

every few days, this thread gets recreated.

Lithium1970; don't be such a lazy-arse and search the forums, you will find hundreds of threads like this one but with all the answers you need.

I have only good tings to say about TIR - I bought it on the strength of a track someone posted up on this forum, and, as RBJ would say, never looked back /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Fresshness - thats what I like about this place...the constantly patient and helpful members.... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'd rather see 100 more threads like this than one more "My FW190 isnt this, that and the other", "OLEG!!! DO THIS NOW!" and all the other rude, impatient, generally nonsensical crap that gets trolled out...at least this is relevant to IL2.. /rant

(btw, that wasnt directed at you, dude, just in general)

would it be any other subject I would indeed help, but this is a question that is asked every 5 minutes it seems...

There are people who have tried it and dertermined that it sucks.

Even if your getting 1000frames per second and have a cray supercomputer the little detector doesn't refresh fast enough so when you pan it is not smooth.

I think alot of people like it because there is an old driver that enables them to spin their head around like R2D2. (Some call it the Linda Blair cheat, I call it the R2D2 cheat)

CheatIR is more like it, and I stay away because I am an honest (that means I don't cheat), discerning (I am affected by microstutters) gamer.

stfu raybanjockey, how can you ever judge something without using it first. So, stop embarrasing yourself and stfu.

I have trackir and is as smooth as my mouse and there is no way in hell you can contradict that.

oh yes, yes, yes, get the sucker!

Flight games just aren't simulators without it!

RBJ is right, it doesn't have quite the refresh rate of a mouse, but it really doesn't matter at all for flight sims.

I expect it might make a difference for FPS though. But even still, there are plans to have support for new ones so the developers can't be unduly concerned about it!

Honestly, as the guy above said, it is the greatest invention for the genre since the joystick.

RBJ, the linda Blair "cheat" has actually been re-introduced in the open-beta of the new drivers. It doesn't really make a difference to me since I fly the P-39 Q1 and rear visablity isn't very good anyway.

Once you get it set up its the best thing you can do to increase the enjoyment of the game!

You will wonder if we would of had this years ago think of the fun we could of had.

It took awhile for me to get mine to work 100% right out of the box it worked 98% perfect and it hooked me. Then I just had to figure it out. Some guys have had great success so said with the dots and clover leaf pattern of them. I did not. I always had a dead spot where it would hang for a bit. Then I tried my own kind of Hillbilly inginuity. Just click the Link I have below my Sig to read up on it.

I use a single reflective dot on the 'closer-strip' at the back of a baseball cap and wear it backwards (yo yo homey).

It works great! Deadzone is sweet in the center and not having the obligation to 'recentre' every 5 mins is making this device a killer device (as in killer application).

refresh rate my arse, this vision is as smooth as a baby's behind (ofcourse, for that it needs tweaking, but what device doesn't need tweaking to suit your personal whims).

Not too much to tell.

Plus
intuitive, works great.

Minus
need to be close to the tracker - with a big monitor, ist almost too close. I wish it had more power..

need to map a button on the stick or KBD so if it gets lost you can poke the button to recenter the view..

I give it a 9 with potential for a 10 if it had better range and a longer USB cable.

Perfect from the moment I installed it. Worked exactly like it says - no stuttering at all. Put a cloverleaf of dots on a binder clip and attached to the brim of a baseball hat - works great.

New drivers even smoother.

Get it - you won't regret it.

works great for me - had it since IL2.

FB made it even better.

Smooth and nicely done.

Takes some getting used to at first and some tweaking - but you'll find your groove and never go back
