The planes you'll be flying will be older than the one in your sig.

You got to know when to hold 'em
know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away
and know when to run.

Whew! Big request there, A lot of tips. Good all around tip is

Altitude is Life. Stay high
Never engage multiple bandits alone
Never attack from a alt disadvantage unless engaged
Fly with friends
Join a Squad
Start out practicing with some quick missions with no bandits so you can learn how to handle whatever planes you intend to fly

Heya FR!
Glad you found your way here /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Its unlike lomac lol /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

If you can be more precise as to what kind of tips you want need, then we may be able to better help you.

free tip: Online play - go for hyperlobby; its where the better pilots hang out (i hang out there too, but thats pretty much all I do /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif )

http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz/

Read the faq you see on the main page. The unofficial faq; its a good read and help with a lot of early problems you may encounter.

Also; bring a lot of patience, planes do not land or take off by themselves /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Best tip: Have fun and enjoy yourself. Welcome to the Il2 community; hope your stay will be a pleasant one.

When flying the Mk1 hurricane and the I-153 and I-16 don't make a sudden change from assent to desent, that will kill you engine. Hurricane you can recover from this, but the i-153 and i-16 require ground crews to start you engine, so you better pray that this won't happen ever!

Yep. Actually it's my opinion that if you want to learn to fly any of those learn to fly them without ever pushing the stick forward. I'm serious. Sounds silly but it's not hard to get used to.

We're all making the assumption, because of your sig, that you are used to fast movers and new to props as well as the game.

Location, Location, Location,

as well as

Energy, NRG, NRG.

It's harder to come by in props

Pick a plane that's fast and climbs well. 109K4 or 190d9 44
Climb high and get fast - 3000-4000m on most servers.
Learn boom and zoom and get good at deflection shooting.
Don't hit 18.
Never make a left-hand turn from the right-hand lane.
Don't play pool with someone named after a city.
Never mix drinking and dating - beer goggles.
