Sorry for the dumb questions but I cant help it, I am sorta stuck here:
I am looking for a down-loadable version of Pacific Fighters that has the merge option? I found one and downloaded it but there was nothing about "merge" when I installed it.
Upon start-up my PF says: Ver 4.01.
My IL2FB AEP says:2.04 But they are not merged. And they work fine seperately.
I geuss I will have to find it somewhere in actual disk version to do this right? Because: WHEN I INSTALL THE DOWNLOADED VERSION OF THE GAME I DO NOT SEE A "MERGE" OPTION OF ANY KIND. I have downloaded just about every patch I could find, But to no avail. My point: CAN I DO THIS WITHOUT HAVING PF IN THE BOX? Waaaaa http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif Thanks <S>

If you have the version of PF that comes on CD-ROMs, you'll have two install options to choose from as soon as the CD drive finds your CD.

The first version is the version you have, and it installs to its own directory as version 3.0 as a standalone sim. You can't merge it to FB+AEP.

The second version is labeled in the menu as FB+AEP+PF and it installs to the existing Ubi Soft/IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles folder on your hard drive as v3.0m, thus overwriting some files that were previously used by FB/AEP.

Does that help?

I think there are two versions of PF for dl... one can be merged and the other one cant. I dont know how you would rectify that.

Thanks SkyCat, that does help, in that it pretty much confirms the fact that I will have to find the CD-ROM for PF instead of downloading it. But at least I have seen it now and I can fly it offline until I find it. Oh poor me, I will have to suffer through numerous carrier landing and takeoff practices for the time being. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif( I am new to PF and have just-now started flying it , and I really like it) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Hey Bearcat thanks but I got tired of looking for it online so I guess I will just take my lazy butt down-town to look for it in the box, or find it on Ebay I guess. It seems like a hard to find item. <S>

The only version I've seen for download was the standalone version. I don't know if it is offered legally, "other than legally" or illegally but the version I saw was a paid version through a vendor other than UbiSoft. I think they just copy the game folder after their installation and repackage it? The game was patched to a current version though. How big was your download? I also happened upon a game site that offers unlimited download of games and demos for $1 a month that claims to have Pacific Fighters, but I couldn't get into the site further to see. A service like that doesn't sound completely legitimate.

Where are you that PF is rare? In my area of Pennsylvania you can find it at Wal-Mart for $20. Software places like Electronics Boutique typically only have one copy -- those mall guys love X-Box and Playstation and hate PC games I think.
