Hi all.
Will there ever be some possibility to edit the maps ? Iwould like to create my own canyons or caves to fly trough, as i am an airracer, and we stay close to the ground.
If not , some objects of the size of the "test airfield" runways, but without their specs could be useful to create tunnels or sth like thatIl 2 Airracing fansite (http://www.simairracing.com)

Unfortunately Oleg's map creation tool is somewhat involved and a few trusted third party groups have been allowed to use it but little else.

I'm not actually sure if the engine would support having a cave...we've never seen that done and there are quite a few limitations. Maybe Ian Boys can answer that one.

I CAN point out some good valley areas to fly around in on the present maps and some of the new maps will no doubt offer some great oppportunities as well.

There is a cliff object in the FMB.

Also several hangars can be flown through

if you play enemy AAA the proper distance from the cliffs, the player is forced to fly under a certain level or risk being shot, as the cliff should protect him or her once under a certain altitude

placing a dozen or so hangars one after another as an obstacle that must be flown through is a nice challenge

Hi Aero. hehe sadly the SF/WoV Terrain Editor cannot join gtopo30 data from files covering differing latitude blocks, and Guadacanal cuts across the North-South boundary of two gtopo30 files. Far more experienced modders than I use different tools or even different satellite data to get past this limitation -- the SF Korea map is a good example that, like Guadacanal, I cannot fully include in a SF map as of now.

But the Good News -- last night I found a way to coach the Terrain Editor into making 1500km maps. Here is my new "Celebes" -- 1500km wide in game -- SF/WoV maps are actually scaled down, so the real mapping is 1500 nautical miles, but in the sim its 1500km (Oleg's man SaQSoN suggested half scale maps for Pacific Fighters, as did RAF_Buzzsaw -- just a plug).

hi danjama, sure i remember you.
I tried all stunts that are possible in this game, like flying inverted under bridges, trough
trainstations or through tunnels made of Hangars. What I´m really looking for is something irreal like a few hundred meter wide cave with steep climbs in it to create a racetrack with loopings or turns in it.
