What are your experiences s far?
Does the game feature the 3d-models of Black Shark (ground-troops, high-quality helicopters, etc)?

I'm currently wondering whether I should make a 30 bucks-investment or not... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Strange, weird congruencies and planetary alignments led me to order it via Amazon this very morning Brems, ETA Chez Plough is Wednesday morning. If it sucks, or ante-sucks I'll let you know.

Mmkay, I'm looking forward to hearing your review http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Looks like they only included an early Mig-29S (9-13) which didn't have all the gizmos the later ones had - pretty much a show-stopper for the Fulcrum-crowd, as the 9-12 (29A) is not gonna survive a modern environment (no jammer et al).

Looks like it's gonna be a Su-25-affair then.
Ready to ruin some grunt's day? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The aircraft with the most accurate modeling (physics/damage/visual/systems) is the Su-25/T. But keep in mind you cannot fly the blackshark, you would have to buy that sim as well. Flamming Cliffs 2 is compatible w/Blackshark so you can fly in conjunction w/helo pilots online, (haven't tried this).

Some additional tweaks have been done on all the aircraft.

I started flying the A-10 offline, and noticed they kinda dummed down it's flight characteristics, which i found surprising since they are about to release a high fidelity sim featuring the A-10C. I mean I was doing loops and rolls in realistic mode with a full load of ordnance.

Actually maybe that part of the plan, make the A-10 in Flaming Cliffs suck, then say "Hey look at this sim over here!"

As long as they adhere to this DRM nonsense, I believe that making all these stand alone sims is getting confusing and annoying, especially when you have separate DRM licenses. What they should do IMO is make one game, and create optional add-on packs, and then include them under a single license as you add them.

Aren't DCS and the guys making FC actually two different branches?

AFAIK, FC 2 is just an update (stand-alone...) to FC 1, bringing in new stuff over from BS and making it compatible to the latter. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Confusin' isn't it? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Granted aside from the annoyance I like FC2 and BS quite a lot. I can't fly the BS worth a damn, but it's still a good sim http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif.

Well, don't feel bad.
It's a helicopter - it's bound to crash http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but every time I have a go at BS, I constantly over-correct and wobble all over the place. It gets so bad I end up crossing the rotor disks, and having a blade strike from extreme maneuvering. I should save a replay and post it on youtube http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Both Black Shark an Flaming Cliffs 2.0 are really fun and exciting if you are in a squad or have a whole bunch of guys flying online. They both get really old, really fast offline. If you grew up playing Falcon 3.0 and Falcon 4(and all its various identities). Then it will feel like you are all alone in a world of SAMS. Your wing men are the worst pilots I have seen in any game. If you give them any freedom, they are dead or have jettisoned all their weapons within 30 seconds of letting them loose. I really loved Falcon 4.0's dynamic campaign. It was made in 1998 for **** sake, just copy the damn thing. Any ways, they both look great and were fun for a week or so, now I just pine for some kind of dynamic campaign. I will hold off on the A-10C, even though the plane itself will be of the highest order, the campaign will suck, again. The A-10C will be extremely realistic, but the environment that it flys in will not be.

AFAIK they don't plan any dynamic-campaigns.
The only hope wuld be custom-made campaigns with some dude completely going off into the details.

If the AI is really that bad, a dynamic campaign would be bund to be lost anyway.

Considering the cost of the mediocrity that was dinner out monday night I'd say the FC2 I received this morning, which I've been farting around with on an off all day, is very much worth the ús spent.

Seems they have a Mig-29G and Mig-29S in game, at least they have key mapping for them so I presume they're available to fly though I've yet to get around to them. Graphics run easily at max on my Quad E6600 with a GT9800 1GB card, everything seems very pretty and I'm still trying to get my head around all the various systems you have to contend with.

I'd forgotten though the sense of distance from actual flight LOMAC has, unlike Il-2 which, considering you're flying a computer, actually seems to draw you in to the illusion of flight FC2 just seems less compelling when it comes to this. Even when you take damage, even catastrophic damage, it just seems to be happening to someone else. Curious that. Anyway, for the paltry 20 odd quid I spent on it it's definately worth it.

Alright, sounds like it's worth a try - i wonder if it runs that well on my 256MB graphics-card http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I take it you haven't gone down the Gastro-pub route with your battlecruiser, Ploughman?
Monday night is chef's night off everywhere http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Try telling me that. 85 people for 3 course a la carte. One kitchen porter. Nightmare

Yeah, and don't I know it, it's a culinary desert out there begining of the week. Puts the price of the software we buy in perspective. FC2, SoW (if and when) are quite a bit cheaper than a forgetful Monday night out for 2, and yet provide us with hours and hours and hours of honest to god, hun in the cross-hairs enjoyement.

LOL, well in this country food is expensive and tech is cheap. If you have left over cash you can choose to buy 2 kg of steak or for the same money a blueray player.
