Can't get rid of the thing. Looks like I'm going to have to reformat http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Has anyone been able to reinstall 4.05 without boonty from a backed up copy. I don't fancy having to contact Ubi for a new key and having to wait for a reply.

Lucky I just bought a 320Gb external drive last week. Phew!

Just copy the entire game directory to another location and then copy it back to the newly installed OS.

While it's not required to run the game, to make future patches and installs work perfectly (read as "good as they will get") you will want to use regedit to export the Pacific Fighters registry key (not sure what the exact key is as my game rig isn't fired up) and then import it after the new install.

What I did with 405m is: I let it install to a directory other than the default FB folder. Then I deleted all the non-FB-Boonty files and swapped the Booty-infested .exes with the regular 404m ones. Last but not least I zipped it up and now I have a boontyfree .zip installer http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Have you tried these, seems quite simple to remove, unless its an updated version. Just make sure its either the N or the O version. (Maybe there is a new version tho)

Thanks for the good wishes (and advice).
Mine wasn't the N or O version though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I started the reformat last night and have been getting most of the essential utilities back on. Hopefully by saturday I'll have everything up and running again.

Despite everything, I realised there were a few things that I forgot to back up. I guess that always happens to some degree. Ah well http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hope you get things running smooth again soon. I've missed having you shoot me up on Zekes lately.

I seem to be rather screwed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif.

Got re-installed and patched up to 4.04m, installed 4.05m okay and went to play - The registration software will not recognise the reg key.

There must be a use-by date on them or something. I sent a polite but desperate letter to Ubi's cryptic help desk asking for an updated key. I hope they don't expect me to purchase the product all over again.

I wonder how long it will take them to answer....

Well and truly grounded now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif
