It's not the "penny arcade style"...
That style of comic books has been around god knows how long...just because Penny Arcade's style is similar doesn't mean anything.

Just thought I would point that out.

PS - It looks damn nice. Altair looks a bada$$.

The comic comes with the limited edition game, it says it on ebgames websight, just an FYI for ya guys. But yeah, I think it looks really good, makes me glad I pre-ordered the Limited Edition. (this is my first post, by the way. Looking forward to spending the next couple of months with Assasin fans who want this game as much as I do.)

He looks weird. The beak on the suit is ridiculously oversized and I don't like game-turned-to-comic comics. But yeah that's my opinion.

I don't like it because of two reasons really, firstly, the comic style and skill are not very impressive, secondly, it doesn't not suite the Assassin Creed feel.

Have you ever seen the Animatrix?
There's a mini-movie there where an olympic runner wakes from the Matrix. The style is just like that. It's very nice.

It's actually quite a talented style that's generally praised in the comics community.

How do you know whether it suits the Assassin's Creed feel or not? You haven't read the Comic, you've only seen one page, and you haven't played Assassin's Creed. Your criticism is baseless.

Thanks man, good to be here. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I think that those of you who don't like the art will feel different about it after you see more. I've read a lot of penny arcade's comics and, while some of the art takes some getting used to, I've never been disapointed. But then again, a lot of people line different things, so you may not end up liking it.

Man, I'm kinda gettin tired of Penny Arcade doin all the Ubisoft game comics. The one for Pandora Tommorow was cool, Two Thrones was alright but I don't think the style fits well with this game in particular. Now if they used the artist(s) for MGS: Digital Graphics Novel then that would be super sweet.

Why does everyone think that Penny Arcade did this comic? What evidence is there except the Artistic style being similar?

I'd really like to know if there's something I'm missing here...I didn't hear about them doing the AC comic.

The file name is PA6, so it would seem obvious to assume that it stood for Penny Arcade, then part/page/issue/whatever 6.

I'm sure if you looked around on the source website you'd find the blog entry confirming this.

Does the photo in the article (http://www.jason-preston.com/index.php/2007/08/26/snapshot-of-gabes-assassins-creed-comic/) look familiar http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif.

and on ebgames.com if you look at the limited edition copy it says all the extra stuff it comes with and one of them is an exclusive Penny Arcade comic. So yeah, it's deffinatly them.

And finally, Gabe gave us a sneak peek at the first page of an upcoming strip he's making for Ubi-Soft, based on Assassin's Creed. Apparently he wasn't supposed to show the strip yet, so good thing we had our camera handy. SCOOP!

I think Ashley Wood's work for the MGS comics would've been a great match for the AC graphic novels. It's more detailed and not cartoon-looking http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I agree. Wood's paintings would be almost perfect to bring the world of Assassin's Creed to life.

If I'd show something with the quality of the 'Penny Arcade'-like comic to any employer, I know that I'd never get hired.

In that first link, I could read the words on the page. It got me even more excited!

I really don't mind the cartoony look, but I can't really put my finger on the reason. Maybe it's just the time the game was set in; modern comics seem to be better suited for painting style comics. However, a more Max Payne style would have been cool. Of course, I can just scan it page-by-page and turn on watercolor in Photoshop.

of course they would!!
think of john romita sr and jr
todd mc farlane made spider-an in the late 80ies and 90ies
terry dodson
bagley form ultimate spider-man
there are a bunch of great artists
but i think it goes pretty ok with the penny style
at least one comic didn´t got influenced (by which i mean ruined) by japanese styles (by which i mean manga, by which i mean more blood than in manhunt and more breats than in playboy 45 to 78 + hustler 12 until 37)

I never said that they weren't talented...I just said that it wouldn't suit AC very well.
