View Full Version : Mapping tracks to keys - how do I do that?

I want to save short tracks while flying.

If I use [esc]Save track ... &c, I loose control of my plane for some time.

Is it possible to map the Save Track, and Stop track options to one (or two) keys?

If so, how do I go about it?

TIA

1) Start FB.
2) Open "Controls".
3) Scroll way down to "Misc".
4) Find "Quick Start/Save Track".
5) Bind a key to this.
6) When playing, hit the appropriate key to start the track.
7) Hit the key again to stop it.
8) When you're done, open "Play Track".
9) The tracks made this way are called quick000*.ntrk, just select one and hit "Play".

Sure can, load game, on start menu, click "Controls", page down until you find "Misc" and you will find a heading called "Quick Start/Save Tracks", sign a key to it. Will incriment each time you record a track.

And Painter, the best thing is, once you have a track, and are viewing it, you can use this quick key to record another track of a subset of the original. Very cool.

The only thing to keep in mind is that starting a track record causes a one-second lag for you in a multiplayer session, kind of like a spawn lag. Not the best time to do it at the start of, say, an air race!

Salute!

I have that function mapped to a button on my X45 throttle.

Cool,
That works/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Thanks Guys.

As Kajr suggested, I want to use that in racing.

Now, can I link this to a script in some way?

The best would be:

Hot key to start the scipt, and let the script start the track.

Kajr, one second in 70 would not be too bad/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
If I could wedge this into the first 10 seconds of a script, that would be just great.

Context for everybody else.
I have a (chat) script to start races, that has a 5 second delay from when I call the script to the first message ("Under starters orders"), and a further 5 seconds before the formal start ("Ready").

The remaining 60 seconds are made of a count down through "Set" to "Go".

If not, then I can live with an extra two key strokes (I just mapped quick tracks to alt/close_square_bracket /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif )

BTW the script itself is called using an rcu command.
I just want to reduce the work-load even more.

Thanks for you help /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
