I have to agree with Dan. More information on the local geology would be greatly appreciated, looks like some lovely sedimentary rock. Also, what's that French coloured aircraft, not the Hawk 75 the other one. It's sweet as sugar.

I think it's a Morane 406. Was at Flying Legends too - they flew in beautiful formation.

Cheers for the ID. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

i wouldn't say it's a 406, probably a later version the 406's radiator looked different.

Dunno... close match http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Then again, I know next to nothing about French planes.

More information on the local geology

It's just the Alpes... what more you need to know?
Location of the airfield (approx):
Lattitude: 46?17'41.36"N
Longitude: 8?59'31.00"E
(Thanks to map24 and Google Earth... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif)

@Ploughman: The french aircraft is a Morane D-3801 ( MS-406 licence-bult in Switzerland)

Oh nice, another geology fan here !!
The rocks surrounding Lodrino belong to the "cristalline" alps, and there they are mostly gneisses of granitoidic composition. Their age is pre-Triassic (Permo-Carboniferous).
But it's true that in some of these pictures they can look like stratified sediments.
Those are found in the southern Alps, starting near Lugano, where the Lombard basin begins.

Hope this helps http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Cheers !

You're welcome !!

Don't be ashamed, the pictures are misleading, without some previous knowledge of the geology of that area I'd probably thought the same as you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Btw, very nice pictures Marco !! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
